hi have been discharged home to be re admitted via ambulance 2nd night wound has vac pump that failed and exploded!! mess not the word - asked hubby to ring ambulance (he has brain tumour)
so in his wisdom rang our daughter at work!!
14 year old son just said don't worry dad and he phoned ambulance so hear I am back in hospital!!! this happened thusday.

SA when you go in to hospital look bottom right hand corner to see if there is any connection you can hop onto? here in Milton Keynes it says wifi mk hospital but you need a code to get onto system. ward staff do not have access codes. I contacted hospital IT department they would not give me code but if some one took my laptop over they would put password on! I can now get on line and watch live tv radio connection sometimes slow but no tv charges at £4.00 aday

Try hospital IT dept on Monday

If you feel like joining the uk carer brain tumour group I can introduce you as its a closed group - great support you can let of steam without offending anyone pm me if you think it maybe for you maybe a local group near your address!

sorry you are having a bumpy train ride - pullover to the side track for a breather and just let the express train through. go with steam slow and steady!!

    Andrea still in hospital xx:(
  • Andrea what a horrible time you are having!! It must be such a worry not only for yourself and your condition but also at having to leave DH. I don't know how you cope! Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery this time.

Hope all is well with you SA Xx

Andrea - you must be so fed up!! Can't believe your awful luck at the moment. Hope everything turns around soon.

Mr SA is still the same, temperature up and down, headache and feeling low. They are taking his Hickman Line out tomorrow as they think this is the source of infection. The same thing happened to a friend of mine and it was her Hickman Line causing it. So let's hope this tactic works.

Was very fed up yesterday morning as I walked all the way up the hill to some local shops to buy some bedding plants only to find when I got there there weren't really any suitable ones. I started getting annoyed that I am so stuck without transport and what used to be a quick trip to the garden centre is now a major expedition involving either walking, buses or taxi and everything takes twice as long. All I needed was some compost and a few trays of plants! Fortunately Mr SA's sister and hubby were at the hospital last night so I mentioned my frustration and they kindly took me to Homebase on the way home where I went mad picking up all the heavy bits and bobs I need and managed to spend £90!!! However, this included a new rug for the living room which we are desperate for as I mis-judged the size of the last rug we bought and it was way too small. Thought it best to cash in on a lift and get what I needed plus there was 15% off everything. So guess what I'll be spending most of today doing - yes potting up plant pots! New rug looks lovely though and our 17 year old cat is fast asleep on it as I post! Dog has gone back to bed!

We live in the east of england and the sun has disappeared since Friday so not very happy about this! Quite cold yesterday and so far the same today. Have plenty to do today as back at work tomorrow so maybe I don't have time to sit in the sun anyway.

A little bit of good news in that Mr SA has been awarded the higher rate of ESA from July onwards as he's not required to work and is in the Support Group. He will get a £10 Christmas bonus (which made us both smile).

  • Sorry to hear MR SA is back in hospital.

Make sure you get plenty of rest when you can - you must be exhausted. I'm in awe of everything you've achieved over the last few weeks.

So sorry to see that things are so tough at the moment :(
Try to take care of you too.
Have you spoken to McMillian as they can help with all the extra costs involved?
How did you get on with DLA/PIP?

Thanks all - Beanie I haven't filled in DLA form yet but will take it to work with me tomorrow and fill it in when I'm in work mode. There just don't seem to be enough hours in the day at the moment. There's just so much to do and the hospital visiting takes up so much time.

Mr SA has moved to another room - the room he started off in at this hospital a few weeks ago. He is now sharing with another bloke (who snores!!) and no longer has his own bathroom but this means he is getting better as the single rooms are for sicker people than him. His temperature has gone down again thankfully.

I walked to the hospital today - it took me just under an hour so not much further than I walk every day to work. I didn't walk in the most suitable footwear - wedge sandals! Feet ache a bit now but plan to have a bath in a bit and an early night ready for back to work tomorrow.

Did the flower tubs and pots and walked the dog twice. Have covered quite a few miles today!

  • I remember from the days of not driving how frustrating it is. Big hugs on that count and well done on getting a lift.

Am glad Mr SA is doing better, pain on the snoring tho. Hope work is good - it can be good to have to fill your head with other stuff sometimes.

    take care lovely

    Love buffy xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Might not bother with the DLA (now PIP). You need to be disabled for 12 weeks before you can apply and it's not been 12 weeks yet and he's improving day by day. By the time he got it he would probably have to come off it again. We can manage with what we've got coming in with the extra ESA, my wages and DD's board. It'll tide us over for the time being. When he's better he'll no doubt be going back to work - can't have him lounging about the place too long!

Work is going ok - not done that much really. Feel like I've been off for ages not just a week.
