Thank you all so much :A

Where to start! Mr SA was supposed to be coming home by ambulance at 6pm on Friday. When 8.30 came and still no sign of him I rang ward to inform them I would be fetching him via taxi as he was getting distressed with all the waiting. Finally got him home and he was very tearful coming down the drive and finally being home. Dog didn't remember him at first and gave him a wide berth, however, as soon as she realised who he was she never left his side. We had a lovely weekend, although I will be the first to admit it was hard work for me, he takes a lot of looking after as he is so limited mobility wise. I hardly dare take my eyes off him in case something happened. He was booked in for the blood clinic at 3.30 Monday afternoon with an ambulance booked to pick him up about 2.30. Guess what the ambulance never turned up! Phoned hospital and they changed appointment to 9am Tuesday and booked a patient taxi for 8.30. At 7.15 this morning this taxi turned up to pick him up for a 9am appointment at a clinic that opens at 8am and is a 10 minuted drive away! He wasn't even up! Told them to clear off and we'd get our own taxi! Mr SA got up to get ready and unfortunately slipped in the shower! He could'nt get up and had locked himself in the bathroom. DD had to break down door and I had to get DS back from work to help lift him up as he couldn't do it himself due to weak arms and legs. We finally got to blood clinic at 9.30. Then, as if things couldn't get worse, he had high temperature and his white blood cells were, as doctor said, in his boots, so he has now been readmitted to hospital! He is beyond disappointment but also realises this is how things are going to be at the moment - up and down. I finally left the hospital at 6pm tonight.

What a hell of a day!!:( Hopefully he'll be discharged tomorrow or at least before the weekend and we can continue enjoying sitting in the sunshine in our garden!
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Oh Jesus. that's all a bit bloody terrifying. At least he was home for a while. the bathroom thing. good on DD.

BIG HUGS all for you Mr SA and DD and DS.

plus love, a glass of wine and the puppy.

    xxxxxxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Hun I'm so sorry to hear that :( You must have been so scared being on the other side of a locked door!

Think of this weekend gone as a trial run for him coming home, rather than a failed attempt. When my DH was in the Head Injury Unit he had a phased return home, first for a few hours, then half a day, then a full day followed finally by an overnight stay. He was always devastated to have to go back, but it gave me time to rearrange things and overcome any problems he had encountered at home. Maybe you can do that now too.

Relax knowing he is being looked after tonight and build your strength back up Xx

PS  to the ambulance c0ckups!

That sounds awful SA. Why don't they arrange for the district nurse to come in and do the bloods at home.
I'm sorry he's back in hospital but it sounds like he maybe wasn't ready for discharge.
