Looking for the silver lining

Back on straight and narrow diet and budget wise. Have done finances tonight and need to reign in spending for the rest of the month. Let Mr SA run riot in Primark Sunday - only £52 so not that bad, plus we ate out last night in a celebratory fashion. Then the spiraliser. But if we have a cheap weekend this week and are careful until payday we should be ok. That's the spends budget. New grocery budget starts tomorrow. Keeping tabs on it all in a book.
Mr SA has now started pestering about driving again. It's funny how his memory is awful but he can remember his consultant saying possibly back driving Autumn 2015. Trying to make him understand how expensive his insurance is going to be plus the cost of buying a car but it's falling on deaf ears. I'm pretty certain he'll need some sort of assessment first as his concentration and reactions are rubbish. I wouldn't feel confident getting into a car with him driving that's for sure.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Hello all, sorry have been AWOL for a bit, just short of time nothing wrong. Not a lot to report, waiting for payday. Booked a holiday - going to Ibiza again 4 September so really need to knuckle down to diet now! Only lost 2lb so far, not doing greatI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Trying hard to get back on track with everything including keepng up this diary for motivation. At the weekend bought Mr SA some shorts and a t shirt for the holiday as he claimed not to have much to take. Once again he was rather over optimistic with the sizing and I had to exchange them for the next size up today, although there were no shorts in the bigger size so got a refund. When I got home he had been sorting out his clothes and announced he had more than enough stuff to take on holiday!!!
Work has been absolutely manic today (no change there!), I am so ready for a break.
Garden is coming along nicely. Mr SA and the carer have been chipping away at clearing it day by day. Just waiting for payday now to get another skip. They're piling everything up ready. They've uncovered garden we had forgot existed!!!! They've cleared right at the bottom of the garden to reveal long forgotten views right to the city centre and beyond (we live at the top of a hill). Goodness knows what we are going to do with all this extra garden. Could do with Alan Titchmarsh coming round!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hello
Just caught up... Fab holiday and as you say short of time....
Really please another all clear, but also appreciate the great changes you both have had to face, when coping with disability.
Despite having had my impairments from birth, I struggle with the changes due to agin so I can't imagine as your OH says going from healthy to having a disability means, as you face your daily activities and roles all change and some would say not for the better.
Beanielou advice re driving assessment centre is good, don't worry about getting a car, until he is deemed fit to drive.
Holiday in sunny climes to look forward to - hooray
Your GD nearly a year old - how time flies.

Hi BM - you're right re Mr SA's disability - he says he woke up one day disabled from being fit healthy bloke previously. Hard for him to cope with. At least I had time to come to terms with it. He's lucky to be here but try telling him that!

How about Mr SA starting a kitchen garden, with carer's help? It will give him exercise, fresh air, a purpose, save money and give you yummy herbs, fruit and veggies? What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Diffi9cult one.

Kitchen garden sounds like a good idea. Mr Lucky has reared a runner bean plant from a bean on wet paper that DS2 brought home from Cubs. It's now ginormous and he loves the sense of achievement when eating them (as we did tonight in a chow mein!) XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
