Sun_Addict wrote: »So I'm all packed and ready to go. Mr SA has been in bed for the best part of the day. We went out to our local for lunch but he struggled with the 10 minute walk. Afterwards he was back in bed, got up at 7.30, ate his dinner, back to bed at 8.15. Doesn't bode well for the holiday. He got his brain scan date through today - this Sunday! Rang to change it and they said "should you really be going on holiday". So on Tuesday 5 May he has a brain scan at 12 and a chest x-Ray at 1. Something for him to look forward to, ha ha. I've had to pack his case for him as he's shown very little interest. If I can get on Internet I'll let you know how we're getting on. Fingers crossed everything will be ok.
Hi Sun.A, :hello:
Ok, travelling for the immuno-compromised:
Use a face-mask* on the 'plane and in air-conditioned areas (ie. the airport). The last thing MrSA needs is another virus on top of the one he's - quite understandably - still struggling to get rid of.
Book a ride on one of those beeping trolleys through the airport at both ends - preserve his energy. Make sure he gets his daily probiotic yoghurt while you're away.
Take all relevant bits of paper you can think of, including a short resume of MrSA's treatment and current meds, and it's useful to carry copies of passports and health documents (to speed up Spanish functionaries in an emergency
).
Hopefully, simply arriving on holiday will help MrSA feel brighter, but if you're concerned about him at all Sun.A, you can be confident of getting excellent treatment (check insurance papers - sometimes choice of doctor / hospital is specified and they won't pay if you go to the wrong one!).

Understandable though; they know MrSA is vulnerable.
But with a few precautions and forethought there's no reason not to go - especially as Sun.A and MrSA's destination has better facilities than the over-burdened NHS can offer. If MrSA needs medical help, the medicos will order a scan straight away.
..There's a silver lining if he's ill on holiday, ha. (Sorry Sun.A, I suffer from an odd sense of humour
).Sun_Addict wrote:Something for him to look forward to, ha ha. I've had to pack his case for him as he's shown very little interest. If I can get on Internet I'll let you know how we're getting on. Fingers crossed everything will be ok.
All digits crossed and positive vibes heading your way for a great holiday without anything going wrong - being prepared tends to guard against such events, doesn't it?
Hope MrSA has fun on his scooter and it allows you to get out and about in the spring sunshine. :cool2:
ps. The mossies are out already; another bottle of gloop alongside sunscreen (avoid possible infected bites
). 0 -

I have just stumbled on this thread and have read it through absolutely riveted. What a story. You start with posts identifying goals as paying off some CC debt and perhaps losing some weight and then the whole crisis with your dear OH intervenes. You have come across as absolutely heroic. Your family, DS and DD, have both needed support as well as your OH and you have been 'there' for all of them, often selflessly and draining your own emotional and physical resources to be so. I think you deserve some sort of award or medal.
I hope you enjoy your holiday and that ife improves for all of you, but mostly you as you deserve it!0 -

Thank you all for your lovely comments and hello to Teacher2, you must've have waded through some pages that's for sure. Hopefully I've shown how life can suddenly take a turn for the worse but you can survive and come through the other side.
So we're back home now, landed at 18.35. We've had a fantastic time, no mishaps thankfully. The sea air and hot sunshine did Mr SA the world of good and he had a great 50th birthday. We borrowed a wheelchair at both airports and went on the ambulift to the plane as he couldn't do the stairs. We managed to get out and about a lot on holiday thanks to the mobility scooter hire. The hotel was great and we would go back to it again for sure. The hotel staff were very patient with him, he can be hard to understand at times and he asks daft questions. The weather couldn't have been better, the sun shone every day and it was hot in the day and cooler at night.
Now back to reality - sigh!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Getting slowly back into it. Didn't have a great night's sleep thanks to Mr SA jerking about and getting cramp in his leg which he had to announce loudly in the middle of the night. I was also aware that I had a Mr M delivery at 7.30 (what on earth possessed me to book it so early the day after the holiday?). So I've been up since 6am, the shopping is put away, I've done loads of washing, cleaned up, taken the dog to the park and now I'm waiting for British Gas to come and do the annual boiler service when they will tell me once again that the boiler is too old.
I've also done my finances, payday yesterday, cards all paid up - was shocked to see my Debenhams card bill was £156 and my Tesco card £645!!! And then I remembered all the pre holiday shopping and the Chanel spray and gold cross and chain I bought for Mr SA's birthday - oh yeah! But I've paid them off now. I've also now got £250.73 in my VSP. Got to really get back on the case with finances now, I need to save more, spend less and the house is so badly in need of a makeover. I also need to get back on track diet and exercise wise. I've signed up for a free trial of Davina Fit, just had a look at it, there are some good recipes on the site and you get sent a personalised workout every day. Will be £4.99 a month after the 4 week trial so will see how I go.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Glad you had a lovely time and got back safely. Good to hear the holiday perked Mr SA up a bit and you were both able to enjoy his birthday.
Must have been something in the air last night, Mr Lucky was very jerky too. I'm shattered!
Are you off work now until after the bank holiday? XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
