  • Hi SA
I am a long time lurker and really admire what you are doing and how you cope
For the last few years if I have ever got a slight pay increase I have put the monthly account straight into my savings pot on a standing order, based on the principle I have lived off my salary up to now, so it's better than getting used to the extra amount monthly.
Hope you have a lovely Christmas - I have a Fitbit on my Christmas list and I am sure I have been good enough this year to get one :rotfl:

Thank you all and welcome from Lurkdom Debs :)

Finally Christmas Eve, all monies are in the bank - my pay, Mr SA's money and DD's board. I've paid my spending card bill, paid £289 off debt to bring it down to £700 (could have maybe paid a tiny bit more off but it's a long haul to the next batch of paydays) and there is £33.21 sitting in my VSP ready for next Christmas. All the presents are bought and wrapped, there is no room for any more food and Mr SA and the dog are fast asleep. DD is working (Morrisons). Mr SA tried for the coffee in town lark this morning but I stood my ground. The house has been cleaned top to bottom and after taking the dog for a walk later it's time to put my feet up.

I will be making a list of all the last minute things I've ended up buying so I'm ready for next year, it's easy to forget after the day. I also vow to keep a tally on what I spend from now on - I know I keep saying this but I really need to get more organised.

Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas, thank you so much for all your support and here's to a good 2015 for us all. This will be the year some of us will become debt free :)

    Happy Christmas everyone :)

Today has been nice so far, DS and GF have been round with DG and we went to the local pub for a drink, taking DD with us, and meeting up with SIL, BIL and their son, add to that DS's old friends and there was quite a crowd of us. Pub was packed solid and had a lovely atmosphere.

Mr SA accepted too many drinks and is now sleeping them off. I'm enjoying some quiet time on my own before I cook the main meal tonight - lamb shank for Mr SA, butternut squash roast for me and scampi for DD (yes scampi!!!). Years ago when DD was small we often used to go out for Christmas Day lunch but I always had an ordeal finding somewhere that did scampi. She hasn't changed at all food wise, she's a nightmare! When she was 2 I took her to the doctors with my concerns about her food fads. He said don't worry she'll grow out of it. 26 years later ..... I'm still waiting!

Hope everyone is having a fab day!

Thanks Beanie and Lucky :) Yes debt free date is on the horizon (for the second time).

Boxing Day and Mr SA's thoughts are turning to coffee shops already. He wants to go tomorrow - I told him no buses were running today. It's a losing battle. Bought the cats a JML Cat's Miaow toy for Christmas but forgot to buy batteries so have had to pay well over the odds for them today in local Mr M. Just to shut up DD and Mr SA. Personally I would have waited until tomorrow and gone to the £1 shop but they were pestering me. The youngest cat loves it but the 19 year old one isn't interested as it doesn't involve food but involves effort.

Having a lounging about day today, no visitors, lovely :)

He will be 20 next May despite vet saying years ago he wouldn't make it much beyond 8 due to too many fights. He looks a bit battered around the edges though but who wouldn't at his age. Hey I look a bit battered around the edges :) We had another cat die just a month before her 20th birthday so we must be doing something right!
