Sun_Addict wrote: »2. Find out if Mr SA is entitled to anything eg PIP/blue badge for carers car. Social worker was meant to be getting on to this but not heard anything back yet so will chase up.
In our area a blue badge entails printing a form off the County Council website, taking it to the doctor to confirm you have issues walking (either problems with legs or breathing issues) and sending that with 2 photos and bobs your uncle.
Obviously from what Satchmo says it is different in different areas.
I would ring for PIP asap - it is taking weeks for the claim pack to arrive and then months (approx 6 mths) to assess:eek:
What rate of ESA is Mr SA on? If it is just the basic £71.70 then once he is out of hospital he should be invited to fill in an ESA50 and from there he will either have a medical assessment or they will award extra money for WRAG or Support group (I think he will be Support as he won't be able to work for some time and this wil be an extra £35pw.
I would also ring/write to ESA and let them know he is out of hospital.0 -
Hi Sun.A, :hello:
Enjoy your day off today - sounds like a great plan, and of course you won't have to cook this evening.
Sounds like MrSA's return home is well in hand. Lots of good tips from Lucky, Satchmo and EE - and I agree with Amber; get on the blower to that pizza place - they ought to give you a freebie for their delivery-bloke's gaff!
Well done on managing the xmas gift-shopping dilemma so adroitly. :T0 -
I hope you have some luck with Virg1n, it always worked for us with $ky, in fact when they called up after we'd left them and they asked us how our service with v1rgin was we weren't very happy, our t.v was basic and I couldn't use the controller properly
:rotfl: and that once our contract was up we were already thinking of going back to them . There and then they told us to plug our sky box in as we'd kept it and they would give us full package for 6 months for free :T;). We have been using our trusty old $ky ever since although this runs out soon! Not bad for one phone call :T I love having the movie channels
.
As for the pizza man  I agree call up and get a freebie! That's the least they can do! Eejits!

Thanks all
Unfortunately didn't see where the pizza man was from as it was too dark - probably not Dominos or Pizza Hut as I believe they stop delivering at 12. Could've been from anywhere! Should've asked him where he was from but at that time all I wanted to do was get rid.
Had a lovely lunch with the ladies on Tuesday and another nice lunch out yesterday with the office.
I've not been on MSE for a few days as my feet haven't touched the ground since Wednesday when Mr SA was finally discharged. Not only am I busy at work I'm also busy with him when I get back! Hopefully will find time to ring Virgin at the weekend and also I've had a letter from nPower suggesting I ring them to change my tariff as my deal runs out soon. Will check out the comparison sites first though!
I've spoken to a benefits advisor and he's given me a number to ring re PIP. He says the blue badge will kick in if Mr SA scores highly enough on the mobility section. I've had a look at some information re how people are scored and his scores are very high in some areas. The advisor said the fact that he's got a carer stands him in good stead.
Don't even ask about my budget! What budget! Since Thursday it's flown right out of the window. Just keep bunging everything on the credit card and hoping to get it sorted out on payday. Seem to be at the bank every day drawing out cash. Total nightmare!
Mr SA is happy to be home. It got a bit emotional at the hospital with some of the nurses a bit tearful to see him go after so long. He said he will miss them too - some in particular have been very close to him. The downside is he is very expensive at the moment and I can't get through to him there is a limit to what we can spend. He, understandably, wants to make up for all the months he was in hospital. Hopefully he'll settle down a bit once the novelty's worn off. The carer started on Thursday and this seems to be going well. They have been out dog walking and for a coffee.
As for me - I'm totally shattered! Yawn!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Glad Mr SA is home but sorry it's at the expensive of your 'me time'. Mr Lucky was the same when he got home, wanting to spend and do/buy things. He did settle down though.
Re the benefits and scoring system, it's all about using the correct terminology and providing examples that match. If you haven't done so already, making sure you tailor all your answers to what they are looking for XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Thanks Lucky - I'm of the opinion if he gets it then great but if he doesn't then it won't be the end of the world.
This weekend has been mixed with some good times but then Mr SA has been quite wobbly on his feet and he had another upset tummy episode tonight which I've had to clear up. One minute he seems almost back to normal then suddenly he comes out with something really random. I know it's early days yet and not expecting to be back to how it was before just yet.
Still don't ask about the budget - not exactly gone mad but have spent more than I wanted to. Have decided to relax a bit - as long as nothing gets added to the debt then that's good. I have to realise that now Mr SA is home there is less money to spare. As long as I can pay something off I'm happy - if I have to balance transfer the remainder then so be it.
I'm just working Monday and Friday this week and hopefully I'll be able to catch up as hardly anyone else is in. Bliss!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Read that first as If I have to balance transfer the reindeer then so be it.
oh dear! Christmas has gone to my head. I reckon you have paid off so much recently you can have a bit of slack ? Especially since MR SA is home
Crikey you have to work Friday? that is hard. Was hoping you'd be at home a bit more, still your work sounds pretty nice so maybe not so bad.
I suppose things will be mixed with Mr SA for a while yet. Really hope you have a lovely Christmas day etc.
Take care of yourself

Oh Mint thought my iPad had been playing up again just then! However reindeer would have been seasonal at least! I ran out of leave due to taking time off with Mr SA but new leave year starts 1 Jan thank goodness!
Lucky re PIP assessment - it's pretty obvious he isn't "right". Hospital gave me folder about how to cope with brain injuries and it's there in writing he must not be left alone.
Thinking about myself - I already have that Christmas "uff" bloated type feeling from eating /drinking more than normal so tonight have been on treadmill to try to counteract it.
Off to bed now - have an early start tomorrow - up at 5 but at least it's just for one day until Friday.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
