  • Can you not cut up the cc or at least 'lose' it to avoid him spending on it?

Sitting with my feet up with a VERY well deserved glass of wine after a weekend of hard work with Mr SA. He has been a bit of a pain at times. He needed watching constantly. Caught him about to climb up on a chair to get to wardrobe top!!! He has been very confused today and thought he was going back to work tomorrow even to the point of getting his work clothes out. I tried to get him to understand but he wasn't having any of it. Saturday night he lost control of his bowels in the hallway and was treading mess all over. Had to get him in the shower and then clear up after him. Don't know why this happened. Was finally sound asleep when I was rudely awoken at 1.45am by someone knocking loudly at the door. Hurried downstairs in a panic to find pizza delivery man who had got wrong address - he apologised but STILL!

All in all will be glad to get back to work for a rest!!! Got a busy week ahead - 2 Christmas meals and tomorrow a meeting with occupational therapist and carer. Mr SA should be discharged sometime during the week. I will be admitted to home for the bewildered the following week!

    And breathe!

Make sure its a BIG glass of wine, you deserve it. Think you will have your hands full when Mr SA is discharged. Think pizza man owes you a pizza for waking you up.

  • Aw Hun I'm sorry you are finding out just how tough it's going to be :(. It's very rewarding but it can be very hard work too. I know there would never be a question of not doing it for our DHs, but no one would choose it as their ideal situation and it throws up all kinds of emotions. Remember we are all here for you.

Did the weekend throw anything up that hasn't yet been discussed as part of his 'coming home' package? If there was anything, make sure it gets added to the list.

Massive hugs and an even bigger bottle of virtual wine winging their way to you. Enjoy your nights out Xx

In work at 7am today to make up for me leaving at 2pm to go to the hospital meeting at 3pm. Yawn! Day off tomorrow though - getting hair cut in the morning, then into town for free coffee and cake courtesy of John Lewis loyalty card, then meeting up with friends for Christmas meal number 1 of this week. So looking forward to tomorrow - it will probably be my last day of freedom for the foreseeable future!

Was so tired last night I slept through the last 10 minutes of X Factor and didn't find out who'd won until this morning.

Totting up finances later on today to make sure I'm still on track. Had enough Boots Advantage points to get a bottle of my favourite Chanel Coco Mademoiselle so told Mr SA this is his xmas present from him. Also bought a necklace and matching earrings I'd been hanging my nose over in the John Lewis xmas catalogue so I'll let him give me those too (only £12 apiece so no damage done). He's not happy as he wanted to get me something himself but I told him for this year (and this year only) he's excused from xmas shopping.

A couple of things I need to do are:

    1. Speak to Virgin Media about possibility of lowering bill (threaten to leave and see what happens). DD has offered to pay extra they are putting bill up by.

    2. Find out if Mr SA is entitled to anything eg PIP/blue badge for carers car. Social worker was meant to be getting on to this but not heard anything back yet so will chase up.

    Hi SA,

Sorry your sleep was so rudely interrupted. Deffo complain to pizza place and go OTT with description, it should be good enough for a very large pizza for next weekend!

Has Mr SA been having trouble toileting at hospital? You might want to check. If not, perhaps it was anxiety? It will have been very upsetting for you both.

Enjoy your Christmas lunch, and that should also be accompanied by a very large glass of wine.

Have you got friends/family lined up to visit in a helpful capacity. Even if the care package is in place, you will need respite. PLMBL will probably be able to advise what notes need to be handy (emergency numbers/procedures, what not to allow, medication timetable, etc).

Has Mr SA got a couple of good, steady friends who would be prepared to take him for a walk or for a one-pint pub lunch whilst you have a rest? Have you hidden the keys to his van (can't remember if the van's still in the picture)? Taken the lock off the bathroom?

Blue badge needs a visit to an assessment centre by Mr SA, which needs to be an appointment, and he'll need 2 passport photos.

    Hugs, Satchmo x
