  • This is an interesting video of evidence of Orange / EE miss selling a phone contract and then making some interesting submissions such as not sending out T&Cs with contracts etc.: youtu.be/BecASN3BV9w[/url]

You will need to add the http// at the front - this site did not allow me to post the link because i am a new user - could someone else do it for me?

    Shocking stuff.

I would also like help, as I would like to post a copy of the original Ts&Cs signed up to by anyone joining Orange between February 2011 and the end of October 2012. Orange have removed these from their site and have since replaced them with amended terms without notifying their customers.

Well I have managed to get a further 10% discount. I am now getting a 20% loyalty discount.

Long story tried to make it short, when on the phone about another matter, they always ask "anything else I can help with today", I chanced my arm and said yes, this price increase, I'm less than impressed, as I was set to leave when I took my current plan back in Nov 12. My rise was 22p, so I was chancing my arm here.

Anyway I explained I had requested my PAC and retentions talked me into staying in a 12 month sim only plan back in Nov for £7.00 (loyalty discount brought this down to £6.30) a month with 150 mins, 250 texts and 750Mb, and I was informed that as I was sim only and the term was for 12 months I wouldn't be subject to price rises, I had planned to move to a rolling monthly deal as I didn't want to be tied into a deal that could increase.

I was told this was not the case, I requested they look back and see if they had recorded these calls. I then got a bit of attitude and was told nothing could be done, so I asked for a manger to call me back to discuss further. I was told a request would be put on my account to look and see if they had recorded these calls and for a manager to call me back. Week later no call back so I phoned again, no record of this request, was told I would get a call back from a manager within 48 hours, another week passes no call back, I call again, its on my account now that a manager should be calling me. 24 hours later manager calls me back, apologises for delay, increases loyalty discount to 20%. Now I was told twice nothing could be done these rises were across the board the price of everything is increasing.

Anyway, upshot is I now have 8 months at £5.78 a month after discount is applied, so what was going to be a 22p increase is now a 52p saving. Now I'm hardly going to have an impact at those figures, and I guess that the majority of people just accept it and pay up hence why they do it. I thought no, I specifically said at the time, I didn't want to be tied into a contract that could rise.

    What goes around-comes around
  • I notice that some posters further up the thread are saying that the way to go to avoid price rises is to go with 30 day SIM only plans. Well I have a 30 day SIM only plan with t-mobile yet I got the letter about the price rises too. This is despite their webpage about the price rises saying "Customers on our.....and consumer 30 day SIM Only will not be affected." I will post again once I get an answer out of them as to which is correct. Given my past experience of their CS staff I'm not holding my breath.

TinaBallerina - as you have a 30 day sim ony plan you can requet your PAC. If you can get a better deal you are free to go at short notice. Someone 6 months into a 12, 18 or 24 month contract can't do that. That is the beauty of the 30 day sim only plan, you can take your custom elsewhere as and when you like. I think that is what is meant by the way to go to avoid price increases, in that you are not tied to the network for a long time.

Very true. However, if you want data, use over 250 minutes and a few texts, you pay more for the 30 day sim than for a 12 month sim offering the same minutes/texts/data - far more than a RPI increase would be. Not a particularly good deal for me.

Yes, you can go giffgaff or Ovivo to save too.

But there are MVNOs that piggy back on T-Mobile network and charge less for a comparable 30 day SIM than T-Mobile do for a 12 month commitment.

Yes, but are their 12-month sims cheaper than their 30-day ones? I was not comparing networks, just that comparing potential RPI increases with the additional 12 monthly costs between the 30-day and 12-month offerings from the same company.
