Morning everyone
Anyone heard from Flutterby - she hasn't posted for ages, hope she's ok?
Redruby - Happy Birthday, have a great day x
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy, overcast, damp and dreich here this morning, although it doesn't feel that cold.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was in shifts - boys and myself early, they have sausage, egg and chips, I had mushroom omlette and some LO veg rice, DH had egg, bacon and mushrooms. Went to DS2's Options Evening - can't believe he's now choosing his options at 12 years old, the school have decided to follow a 3 year GCSE course not 2 year - a big change, they seem convinced it's the right thing to do, I'm not so sure - it's really young to be making those choices.
Yesterday work wasn't horrendously busy but busy enough. Finished yesterday at lunchtime then came home and made a start on the list of chores, managed to get some washing in - but didn't get it dry as it kept going dull and having a few spots of rain, so today have the bulk of the washing, drying and ironing to do although have managed to get a couple of loads line dried earlier on in the week so not that much left to do.
Will get in contact with the plumbing company I deal with this morning - the shower in my en-suite has finally given up the ghost, had a shower yesterday morning and struggled for ages to turn it off - have unscrewed the on/off knob to see if there's a problem and it all looks really worn so it's just a matter of it's "old and knackered" - so shower unit needs replacing - just what I can do without at the moment as I've paid the deposit for the re-fit of the main bathroom and was not too worried about it as we had access to another bathroom - now I need to get the shower replaced pronto - so that we have some washing facilities whilst the work in the main bathroom is being done. Also will be getting in touch with my sis as she has a good quality gas hob and electric fan oven she has offered me as she's having a new kitchen - hoping to go and look and see if it will fit at mine as mine's just a cheap one.
Now off to tackle the "to do" list, which of course, has the normal stuff on, must remember to menu plan for next week before I do the food shopping tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

:bdaycake:Happy birthday Redruby, have a great day!
Halight, Ive been awake from 2.30 as well, but instead of joining the night shift Ive been reading my kindle!
Have to go to occupational health this morning, then back to sainsbobs with the iron. DD out tonight for dinner, so will rummage a portion of something from the freezer, will sort it out this afternoon hopefully as I have no clue whats in there, and need to sort it out before I go back to work, there will be loads of chicken and mince in packs that are too big for us, so will clear some space and batch cook some meals which can be taken to work or heated by DD when I'm not here!
Right, better hit the shower and find something warm to wear, its persisting down here too!RIP Iain

Morning Halight and all,I hope you are dressed Halight, I can't be seen chatting to a semi clothed man,
Unlike Hester, i can so strip away
Happy birthday Redruby. I hope you have a lovely day.:bdaycake:
I'm still thinking of my son who came to visit me yesterday. Only 2 years ago i was wondering how i could fix my very fractured family. I still have issues with my Mum but at least the issues with my two boys seem to have gone a long way to being repaired. I'm thankful for that. Watching my two boys watching the Hitman last night (not my sort of film) was a joy to see. How i've longed for that for so long.
My daughter in South Africa sent me a picture of an invite to one of her foster childrens birthday parties that is coming up. She knows i cant go obviously but wanted me to have an invite. She's been left home 14 years now and when she sent me the invite, she said 'I really wish you could be here Mum' it really tugged on my heart strings. She's never said that before.
Anyway, less of the rambling.
Jobs for today
[STRIKE]Beds need to be stripped and bedding laundered[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Vacuum downstairs[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Chemist (dodging the showers if possible)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Tea - Pork and roasts[/STRIKE]
Have a good day all and like me, dodge the showers. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning everyone, hope you all have good days today.
Well once I've finished work my jobs for the day are:
Food shop
Hoover everywhere
Clean bathroom
Wash kitchen and bathroom floors
Attempt to ring family with stupid useless phone that it appears has stopped working properly.
The phone is annoying me, it's started to stutter in and out when you're talking to someone so that you can't hear them properly, although it's fine for them. I want a cordless one but we can't have one as there is no plug socket near enough to the phone socket to plug it in, so we have a big long cable to extend the phone so that we don't have to sit on the floor by the wall when we're using it. I have to work out whether it's the phone that is the problem or if the cable has broken. Only a very cheap phone but it's annoying!
And I still want a cordless one.
ETA: And I'll probably get all rained on going home as I can't carry the shopping AND hold up an umbrella!0 -
Morning all
Happy birthday redruby.
Halught I was also awake then but try not to use phone/laptop as it keeps me awake more...
Miserable weather today. Feels even more miserable after the nicer weather we had... Still means I'm on top of mount washmore til it starts breeding again...
Want to make a cheesecake today. Fancy it for some reason. Will have to wander to shop for ingredients. Not sure what to have foodwise. Maybe just something from the freezer.
Also need to cook and puree some more veg for baby as there isn't much left. Other than that, just general tidying etc.
Hugs to all who need/ hVe gd day all"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
Morning
Didnt get to post yesterday, put computer on and DS says "i need to do XYZ for college project and I forgot" so an evening spent making a booklet. Even though hes now at college I still find it hard not to say "it would look better like this etc". I know it has to be his work and he is capable
Happy Birthday RedRuby hope its a good one.:bdaycake:
Just worked out how to insert all those little icons, will probably go bit mad with them for a while
HH know what you mean about Y10s, for us its Y9 who are problematic, dont know what they are thinking sometimes
Wet here today, looks set in for a while there goes my gardening plans.
OS DW on, sausages for tea (hoping not to shorten my life too much!), washing all dried and put away. Have vacuumed downstairs, upstairs can wait. Need to make shopping list and must remember to add cards for forthcoming events.
Pleased DD starts a job today, I hope it works out for her, she was badly let down by last one and was very upset. It will certainly help all our finances if she earns a bit. Its for a well known chain of opticians and they seem happy for her to fit work round her studies.
Thoughts to all.
PS does anyone know if there is a MS calender this year? I did the poll that asked about wanting one. found it very useful last year and would really like it again.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

Happy birthday redruby. You're right, it's illegal to do anything OS on your birthday, unless it's relaxing with chocolate which is very OS (I won't be told otherwise).
halight I'm glad your wrist is a bit better, don't let that stop you going to the doctor. Have you got a futuro splint for night times? Try one of those and elevate your arm on a pillow, it might help.
I'm having a bit of a lazy day today. I've already put the washing on, sorted DS2's WBD costume, put cheesy bread in the BM, been to the doctors to sort out DS2 prescription which they messed up yesterday. I've got to take him there tonight as he is having lots of food issues at the moment, it's all long standing stuff which we get on top of, then he relapses. Argh!
Anyway, have a lovely day everyone.0 -
