Holland and barrett are to be avoided they use all kinds of fillers and junk in there products, for good quality products i use brands like doctor's best quali c, now, quest and sometimes swanson, biohealth, biocare and solgar.
Even better would be to forget the vitamins and use the infinately better absorbed food sources, so look up vitamin c rich foods and up your intake. Same with zinc etc.
Get a blood test done to check everything. Btw my doctor prescribed me d3 after a blood test then again it may be cheaper just to buy it.
Echinacea is only good at prevention, garlic is said to cut a cold duration down by 50% but can irritate the gut, perhaps a good quality suppliment.
Finally probiotics will help pick up your immunity if you have had your good bacteria destroyed by to much antibiotics. Get a good quality probiotic not these Mickey Mouse flavoured drinks masquerading as medicine the supermarkets sell. I recommend all antibiotics are taken alongside a good quality probiotic as your gut health has a colossal effect on your immune system.
Caffeine causes adrenal fatigue so give your body a rest, i can recommend herbal tea by pukka they are sweetened with herbs.
A lot of people don't realize that the symptoms for to much acid in the stomach and to little are practically identical so if antacids don't help try the opposite. Unfortunately drs are only trained to go the antacids route, in fact drs in general are over-rated once you find yourself with a chronic condition.
Don't push yourself the last thing you want is for this to develop into me/cfs. Good luck . x
Tell drs exactly what you said here with a view that they will most likely order a blood test.
Hi there
Thanks for your post. I am definately gonna mention the heart burn as my parents suffer and they take prescrption tablets to ease it on the odd occasion. Sounds like am following them. Worries me on times as I sit here, pull my bra, sit up straight and a big relief.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
Hi all
Feeling bit better today. In p.j.s most of yesterday and chilled to the best I could. Did visit my g.p. who was amazing and told him everything. He said it sounds like as soon am I have a viral I am not taking the time to rest to the best I can. He appreciated I have 3 little one,s but also bugs from the school certainly doesn,t help.
Whilst where also on the subject he also mentioned he thought it would be in my interest to see a councellor with regards to making me talk to a stranger about the diagnosis my ds had 18 months ago for mild autism. I cried at that point. I am with the g.p, all the way on this as I think I do need it. My hubby is great with it all and so is my parents, but at least once a week I think about my ds and the future ahead.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
I get really bad heart-burn when ever I have a cold (and subsequent chest infections!) but the GP tells me this is the cattargh dripping down the back of my throat and causing acid reflux. It always disappears once the original problem has gone.
Did you ask for a blood test?It aint over til I've done singing....0 -
