constant cold

Morning all

In november I had an awful bout of cold/flu like symptons that lasted for 10 days. Really crappy at the time.

Then in February I had another cold plus on top of that a sickness bug that my children also had.

Then last week I just got over a huge coldsore on my lip that now has disappeared.

Woke up yesterday morning to yet another cold.

I am feeling really crappy the fact all this in 4 months. My hubby is really well. I eat well ( ish ) 43 years old, not overweight, always running here there and everywhere. Okay we had a major meeting for our little boy with the school 2 weeks ago which now is all going through, so no longer worried about that.

Does anyway think it is stress related with the build up of my little boys meeting.

My hubby takes cod liver oil capsules but I don,t take anything.

Thanks guys

The cold sore might have been stress related but it sounds like you might just be a bit run down. Why not try extra vitamins see if it gives your body a boost?

I find I get unwell if I am neglecting myself in favour of children and house and everyone else.

  • I think it's the time of year where colds and other bugs are rife plus you had been left very run down from the flu and more susceptible to getting other stuff. Your immune system probably didn't have time to recover over christmas (I'm assuming that being a parent it wasn't an overly restful time for you!) and you've just kept going and going.
I would suggest making sure you eat lots of lovely fresh vegetables, grains, pulses and lean meats and oily fish. Add plenty of fresh garlic if you like it (keeps the vampires away too) and just give yourself time to rest. Early nights, good sleep. Hot milk or banana before bed (or some dark turkey meat if that floats your boat) as this will help your sleep and take time to relax. To get better you have to look after yourself, especially if you have a lot of stress on. Be kind to yourself.

thanks guys. I have also noticed I am literally falling asleep in front of the t.v. at 8.30 and my oldest is still awake. I also noticed last week I was having a couple of restless nights and just wanted to get up and make a cup of tea, but it was too cold

You mix with children - they're superb germ factories.

Well funny you should say that. When I was pregnant on my ds 6 years ago I was on iron syrup and then for a month when he was born.

I also look quiet pale aswell.

Could be lack of vit. D. I had a similar problem a few years ago and a good long course of vit D helped a LOT! Make sure it is vit d3 though not vit d2 which is what the nhs prescribe and it doesnt work half as well.

poor you - there's nothing worse than keep going down with colds etc, DS was like this when he started Uni - I suppose to be expected, someone recommend that he take a zinc tablet a day it helps your immune system, was a bit sceptical but he has been fine since taking them - hope this helps, and that you feel better soon

There's a reason for that - they aren't docs, don't know what the problem is and will try and sell you some homeopathic nonsense!

Have a word with your doc.

In the meantime, what's your diet like? Do you exercise?
