There's a really really nasty one doing the rounds at the moment that comes back at you when you think you've shifted it.

Think that's what I've got - I had a flu-y cold a fortnight ago, I was more or less back to normal last weekend, then all of a sudden it came back with a vengance. Hopefully the relapse isn't quite as bad as first time round, but I really regret not taking to my bed at the weekend when I felt a bit off and giving it a chance to get to me again!
  • Floradix is a good pick-me-up if you are feeling run down. I would go to the doctors first, though, to check that there isn't an underlying cause. You need to get enough rest, too. I know people with kids especially are always on the go and trying to cram so many things into one day. Your body might be telling you to slow down a bit.

Hi there, regards the cold, I guess you are maybe a little run down & immunity low however can I also suggest hygiene? Please don't be offended by that comment, there's none intended :)
    1. Each day after brushing your teeth, clean your toothbrush in boiling water. If you think about it, it makes sense. If you don't kill the germs on your toothbrush each day you're just re infecting yourself every time you clean your teeth!
    2. Try to wash your hands more often especially after doing anything with the kids. They are little germ carriers (I know, I work with lots of them :))
    3. Try to get a little fresh air each day even just open the windows while you're working in the kitchen or whatever

I used to get colds frequently but since taking the above advice I've only had a sniffle for a couple of days. Big improvement :)
Btw, I also use Berroca which I like but it only gives you an energy boost for a few hours, it doesn't prevent or cure anything

Day three of a horrible cold for me. Utterly relentless snot factory... I always got colds fairly often, but this one is annoying as recently I've been taking really good care of myself. Regular running, getting plenty of fresh fruit and veg, eating breakfast which I never usually did, Vitamin D supplements over the winter, as well as some other multivitamins regularly, probiotic yoghurt, keeping down on the booze, have given up fags, wash my hands regularly but not obsessively.... and this is my reward. Ain't far sometimes!

As these are vitamins I don't consider this medical advice, but, I take an a-z plus minerals, and extra D C Zinc and echinacia. The key is avoiding sick people if you can, and always washing your hands especially when you come into the house is essential....... I carry sanitizer and use it regularly, also and VERY importantly keep your hands away from your mouth, so don't eat unless you have washed your hands, not even one crisp, or grape !!

I find that getting drunk every day makes cold symptoms less noticeable.

No room for illness if you're full of alcohol :D

I switched to a wheat free and sugar free diet and didn't have a cold for a year. When I did it was after a few weeks of not taking such good care of my diet. i also lost loads of weight into the bargain!

Vitamin D is also essential and in higher quantities than recommended.
