We have a bosch exxcel washing machine and it's damn annoying.

Its been doing the washing for a family of 5 for the past 7 years, never complained and I have only had to clean the powder draw.

It beeps when it has finished - keeps re beeping every few mins so I have to get off my backside and turn it off.

    Damn annoying....
You do realise the beeping can be turned off, don't you? :D

It's a bit tricky at first, but on my machine, you do this:

    1. Make sure that the door is closed, and turn the programme selector to position 0 (OFF).

    2. Turn programme selector clockwise one step to position 1 (Cottons).

    3. As soon as something appears on the display, immediately press and hold the Wash Plus button while turning the programme selector one more step to position 2 (Cottons Stains). If successful, a number from 0-4 will show it on it's own on the display. This is the volume/loudness.

    4. Use the Time Delay button (picture of a clock on it, and it's in between the Temperature and Spiin Speed selector buttons on my machine) to change the volume. It goes from 0-4, then back to 0.

    5. To save your settings, turn the programme selector to position 0 (Off) and wait for the display to completely turn off.

    6. Enjoy!

Position 2 (Cottons Stains) on my machine, is the volume for the beep when you press a button. Position 3 (Easy Care), is the information signal volume - ie: end of programme.

    Hope this helps! :)

  • We have a Bosch Exxcell 8 "Vario Perfect" that takes an 8 kg load, and spins at 1400 rpm. It is three years old this month and has developed a very noisy bearing.Probably a write off as the newer Bosch machines use a sealed drum/bearing assembly that is so expensive that it may not be worth replacing. Very disappointed with Bosch. The engineer is coming tomorrow (£95 call out charge!) and maybe the news will be happier. If not my next machine will be Miele.

To be honest, after working in domestic retail sales in the 70's-80's. where many of the intro level Bosch, Hotpoint etc machines were made in Italy, then now probably made in China, then they are overpriced,
We bought a Siemens washer and seperate drier... the drier lasted a couple of years before its brain blewup. "250 Euro later for a new control panel, and told to unplug the machine if a storm was in the area. German engineering is as crap as the dyson cleaner we bought after 20 years of use with our original. 6 months into use, the dust container opens when it wants. Askdyson are a load of pre-programmed youngsters who know nothing about customer service. Cleaner due back this week, so will see if the design fault they admit to is fixed.

We had an entry level Bosch between 2001 and 2012. We were going to pay £400 for another one with a two year warranty when I spotted Miele were offering free 10 year warranties. So I paid £630 for the Miele. The Bosch we had performed well for the 11 years without problem so I may have wasted £230. However the Miele is really nice. The Bosch used to bounce around and make a racket. We can't tell if the Miele is on or not. Problem is I may have to keep buying expensive Mieles from now on.
