We've had a Bosch Excel for nearly 10 years. It's had some heavy use and failed a few months ago. Replaced the brushes ( a few quid) and it's been fine again.

    Brilliant!

Machine has been installed and am pleased to say all washing is up to date...whoo hooo!
Am really pleased with the washing (seems far superior to the Panasonic) but am slightly disappointed with the spinning - am having to use the 1400 spin and on a few loads have had to an extra spin (another 13 mins) at 1400 after the wash has finished. (Panasonic I only ever used 800 spin).
Any ideas? was wondering if its to do with the size of the drum and the amout of washing in it? (I can live with doing an extra spin every so often though).
    Am very pleased so far.

Most washing machines say they were unable to spin, but some also adjust the speed if it helps it to complete the cycle.

I had a Dyson which was 1400 but it was happy to spin at any possible speed between 0 and 1400 if it meant finishing the cycle.

Most washing machines quite often don't run at full spin speed, or not for long because if the drum inbalance sensor is triggered the machine restricts its speed to a lower one, mine shortens the cycle too. It is protecting itself against excessive bearing wear and from it hopping across the kitchen floor.

The bigger the diameter of the drum the worse the effect of an imbalance in the load unfortunately (laws of physics). If when it starts spinning the drum looks like its shaking a fair bit or you hear the speed drop a step you may be able to press the power off, open up (may be a time delay to wait) and redistribute stuff, make sure heavy stuff like towels are untangled and spread out, then close up and press the power button for it to continue.

Thank you for the replies. One thing I have noticed with the Bosch is that it does not move or vibrate at all.
I will definitely have a go at redistributing the washing in the drum, luckily it doesn`t have a time delay on opening the door. Got to be worth a try.

We have a bosch exxcel washing machine and it's damn annoying.

Its been doing the washing for a family of 5 for the past 7 years, never complained and I have only had to clean the powder draw.

It beeps when it has finished - keeps re beeping every few mins so I have to get off my backside and turn it off.

    Damn annoying....

The Bosch Exxcel dishwasher is the same, thats been going for 6+ years and I have to empty the damn thing - why cant it put stuff away in the cupboard itself?

    Useless Bosch stuff.... :)

I experienced the continual beeping when upstairs earlier!! thought it only did it a few times.... seems not!
Is there any way to turn this off? may be not if yours is still beeping after all this time..lol Oh! heck... at least we can`t forget the washing is there..
    Does yours spin ok?

Ditto with the brushes: a Siemens motor, and the "correct" brushes were very expensive (£30+).

Pattern brushes were less than £10 delivered

    So far so good.

Euronics is a buying group established in the early 90`s i think to compete with all the bog companys buying power wise.
lots of small and independant shops club together to get better wholesale deals from the manufacturers and are 100% ok.

Most modern machines are totally unreliable compared to older 70/80/ amd 1990`s machines as they now have drum bearings the size of a 10p piece, motors which burn out at the first sign of carbon brush sparking and plastic askoll water pumps fitted to everything now.
Insurance is a total must these days incase the motor or bearings or programme timer pack in.

The cheaper bosch machines were starting to be made in spain and italy by merloni and were real cheap rubbish a few years ago , i stopped doing free estimates on them as i could never economically repair them if they had motor/timer or drum bearing problems.

heres a link to what others think on this matter from 2007 when these machines were around
