    Hi everyone,

Although not a newcomer to this site I am a newcomer to losing weight on it I am a laydeeee aged 24 I have 2 kids aged 4 and 11 weeks but my body has undergone three pregnancies and I have to say is in a state I weigh 17stone and 10 pounds is 5ft 9ins tall and my name is Amanda I am married (hubby is hoipeless when I am dieting non stop temptations) now I am fairly active but eat loads of crap. I have dieted all of my adult life and I am sick of getting nowhere I have been to sw and ww and gotnowhere with either saw my gp last year about it crying out for help they referred me to a dietician who was the most patronising person I have ever met said Imust eat from my sons plate (I never do this) she was very slim and obviously never had issues with weight basically told eat less excercise more:mad:

Now I am not stupid I know thats how it works what I wanted was some kind of plan something to help what I got was effectively a door in my face so went back to slimming world and bought reductil from an online clinic (they were the real deal checked them with the manufacturer) lost 16lbs in a month then got pregnant.

Now I am at the stage where I don't wanna pay for these pills I wanna do it myself but don't really know how I dont know how to cook meals from scratch apart from meat and two veg type meals we love fresh food fresh fish fresh fruits but I havent got a clue what I am doing and end up reaching for ready made saucesetc and doesnt help my efforts.

Anyone that can help me draw up my own meal plansand cook good food for my family you will make me eternally grateful really want to do it and have success this time my initial target is 15st 2lbs as this is the weight I was at 18 and 11st10lbs is my final goal my weight aged 15yrs and my best look any help tips etc would be appreciated sorry for the long post just wanted to let you know a bit about me.

Hi poppyscorner, there are loads of threads on "old style" that will give you ideas for menu planning. I don't know how to show the threads as I am new to this too!
Go to chat forum and put menu planning into the search.
I have been menu planning for 2 months now and have cut my food bill in half, thats with six of us, one dog and one cat to £250 a month!
Good luck with the weight loss!

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome and welcome to the fellow newbies. Well i've bit the bullet and weighed myself and I'm really pleased cos although I haven't lost anything I haven't put anything on so I'm going to count myself lucky, pull my socks up, kick myself up the bottom and get back on track. I've worked it out and I've got 26lbs to lose. Thanks petrichor for encouraging me to weigh myself I'm glad I did cos now I feel really determined (just hope it lasts).

    Good Morning Lovely Peeps

Well!!! Would you Adam'n'Eve it, I got on the scales this morning umqohw2.gifin a somewhat hesitant manner, and lo! and behold! I'd lost 2.6 lbs :confused:but    I think a lb of this really belonged to last week, but I was really boosted and I got on the scales twice just to make sure :D. Although I haven't met the May challenge I don't feel down about it :j .

A quick nottaggedsmiley14578pw3.gif to wilroda, poppsycorner, kjj16. I like that idea about menu planning, so I'm going to pop over to OS later and have a look, anything to ring the changes and keep me 'fresh'; thanks for the post kelsi it's not very often that I venture from this thread, although on the rare occasions that I have it's been more than worthwhile :T

Well done misty for getting on the scales :T you'll soon get back on track now, and Red Fraggle just keep persevering, you will succeed ;)

    Hi Poppyscorner and Kj116 :hello:

You will get lots of support on here. Poppy if you look at page one, post one you will find lots of recipes, both WW and SW that ate brilliant. Most are very easy to cook and great in taste.:D

If you go to your local library you should be able to find some good recipe books for low fat, low cost family meals. I don't know any names but there are a few people on here who will be able to tell you.

Hope weather better for everyone today. Sun just broke out here but not sure for how long...Must ave been weather yest cos I felt fat and rubbish too, did resist cake and custard kids had for supper tho:D

Not wanting to rain on your parade, but you may need to do toning exercises to help convince the tummy to go :) I am just going to start looking at this and will also start swimming again soon, I am starting to show the under arms, male breasts, tummy (always though) and the upper inner thighs.

Take it easy, keep going your doing a wonderful job and remember your bacon sandwich you promised yourself :)

    Hi poppyscorner

Your story is so typical of a lot of us here, and it's not the first time that we have heard of unhelpful health experts either. So from a non-expert I would say that the first thing is to accept that you will never be able to eat as you would like and that you need to re-educate your mind to want only healthy, necessary food, and without the need for diet pills  . I know it's easier said than done :o .

It's quite simple to make your own healthy sauces, and it's for this purpose that I keep loads of tins of chopped tomatoes and cartons of passata in my cupboards, plus a variety of dried herbs and spices, garlic, marigold stock powder, knorr stock powder etc. After making your sauce flavoured as you want ie curryish, cajun, herby etc try adding vegetables such as peppers, courgettes, onions, aubergine etc, sprayed with 1 Cal Fry Light and then roasted in the oven or simply chargrilled. This can be served in whatever way you want such as with chargrilled chicken and new potatoes (which are very nice roasted in the same way too!), or try adding red kidney beans and rice, grilled and sliced low-fat sausages etc. The combinations are only limited by your cupboards :D

This is a site that someone here found (Victory?) a while back and it does have some very good recipes http://lowfatcooking.about.com/

I hope that this helps you a bit, Amanda.
