Hello all
I would like to lose some weight, or to put it more clearly, not lose weight but lose my stomach and extra chin!!
I get tired very quickly. A day at work, or even a few hours at home and I need some sleep and I think by losing some weight may help. A better diet etc.
The problem is, i've tried all this before and felt really hungry all the time and I dive for the nearest chocolate bar/packet of crisps!
I cannot eat too much of certain things as too much makes me ill and gives me pain! Too much dairy & bread for example, amongst other things.
I have no idea on what foods to eat apart from the obvious - fruit and veg but I need something that is not going to make me dive for the biscuits!
Any suggestions, or any pointers to threads that may be able to help?

I'm back once more planning to get on the lose weight wagon. ... I know it's been a while (can't remember how long - was it lose weight 10?) and glad to see some familiar names. Hi Lois, Honey, Suggs, Katyk, Maduri and everyone else. You guys should be so proud of yourselves. I've been and gone (about 3 times now) and you're all still here.
Well, in the words of Donna Summers "enough is enough", I've procrastinated, cried, made excuses and done everything to put off the final moment (including rejoining ww and leaving again). I'm finally ready to bite the bullet and join the gym. I've managed to put on 1 & 1/2 STONE :eek:since I first joined the lose weight thread in April 2006. I've had enough of sitting in front of the goggle box every night waiting for my life to start - I'm going to make it happen. I have an appointment with a trainer in my local gym tomorrow morning at 9.30. I've got about 6 stone to lose and all the time in the world to do it. I'll try to stick with you guys this time (if I can ever get my OH off Eternal Dual, BF2 and Call of Duty.)
Wish me luck (here's hoping I'll not be too badly tortured). I'll fill you in when I get back.
Dellybelly.

lol Kat - you're welcome :rotfl:
I can eat less than 1600 cals a day easily but it turns out they are 'bad' calories  and it still means I'm not eating enough to keep my metabolism running. The chart by Lois really does make you think but I KNOW that slimming world works for me - IF I STICK TO THE RUDDY THING AND EAT MORE OFTEN
I don't know how they work these 'diet' things out but I do know that you can't mix them and maybe you shouldn't compare them. I know Petrichor said that weighing everything is second nature to her and now automatic - it's similar to me on SW - I know what I can eat and what I can't. Damnit!!!! I'm confusing myself0 -
Don't worry Erlqueen - if you can weigh yourself tonight, I won't post the chart until later.

I wasn't here to see this last night so sorry again
Anyway I'd have probably ruined the lovely 'no gain' chart :rotfl:
Welcome daisyblue, welcome back dellybelly, and hello Sylvester - sorry I don't know what to suggest to help you but hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me (that actually wouldn't take much) will be along soon.
WOW and WOW Bindi :j What's the secret? Do you keep severing limbs? :rotfl:0 -
Hello
I am not officialy part of this thread but I am losing weight over in the Arms and was intrigued by this bad calorie thing. The Nurse has told me to stick to 1200 calories a day does it really matter what these are as long as I am eating three times a day?
thanks to anyone who can enlighten me on this one?Loving the dtd thread. x0 -

Hi Erlqueen - I'm one of SW's biggest advocates, and frequently recommend it to people because I know it works too - I lost 6.5 stone in 18 months, the most weight I'd ever lost in one go!
I'm doing the comparison out of interest really. As you may have noticed, I'm still following the principles of SW - red days and green days - even though I don't need to, to count calories, the reason being that I have a theory that I'm probably doing SW to the max, i.e. eating more than I need.
I've been doing SW for 6 years, with only a few short breaks (holidays, a stint of WW, a go at Rosemary Conley) and I think after such a long time I have started to cut corners, and I've probably taken to eating meals that are actually high in calories even though they fit with SW.
Not eating enough has never been an issue! :rotfl:

Hi Denty
In my opinion, that's the biggest flaw where calorie counting is concerned - you could actually eat 1200 calories worth of Mars bars, and as long as that's all you eat, you'll lose weight - but you'll also end up with malnutrition!
Ideally, the 1200 calories should be made up of items from the different food groups so that you get enough essential nutrients. Foods that are high in fat and/or sugar are also high in calories, so cutting down on those will help to keep your calorie count down.
1200 is very low. Why not have a look at the links on the first post - there's a couple of websites that give you a recommended daily intake based on your gender, activity levels, current height/weight, and how much you want to lose. I think eating so few calories can do more harm than good as you can suffer from fatigue, dizzy spells etc, and ultimately convince your body that it needs less food, so you'll regain weight much more easily (been there done that)
Good luck with your weight loss.
