I don't think they scratch that easily.
Depends entirely on what the 'grit' is made of.
Some nice soft clay particles will do no harm at all.
Coarse sand particles would probably cause some slight scratching
Granite dust would cause major scratching
Unlikely there would ever be any diamond dust in the atmosphere but if there were it would wreck the panels.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
Update: Well today I got the letter about the interest free loan... we were declined  I'm actually not too bothered, as it avoids the time constraints and allows us to move at our own pace. Although, quick enough not to lose out on the current FIT's rates.
I've been debating whether to go with my initial gut instinct or another company, as the one I had chosen have started really annoying me. They keep phoning and emailing to ask if the application has come back. I hadn't even confirmed I'd be using them.
I'm also a bit annoyed with the other company I would have went with. I called them today to ask what sort of deposit they'd be looking for and he told me it was an estimate I had, not a quote, but he would send it by email. That was at 9am this morning, and I've not had the email. He wouldn't discuss deposit amounts over the phone, that was all going to be in the email.
I was a bit concerned that I couldn't pay anything on my credit card, as this would give me extra protection, however, it appears most companies don't accept credit card payments.
Anyway, hopefully I can make a decision over the weekend and get it booked in on Monday :j
Thanks :beer:0 -

To be fair any payment they did accept by credit card would probably have around 5% creamed off by the credit card companies.
But the extra protection offered is really valuable to purchasers ! Have you considered offering to pay a surcharge to cover their costs in acepting such a payment ? No need to pay all of it that way - a token £100 deposit should qualify for protection of the full cost and would only justify a few pounds of surcharge.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
Hi Eric, that's what I had hoped, paying the deposit, or some of it on my credit card. And I don't mind paying an extra charge to have the peace of mind. But they don't appear to accept credit cards, end of.0

Roughly where in Scotland are you? We are located in East Lothian. PM me if you like and I'll pass on the details of the installers we used who were excellent. Just an idea... Cheers0

Just a thought from an ex-pat now living south of the border. Will the current FiT rate be guaranteed if Scotland chooses to go it alone after the referendum? Or are all bets off?Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

I have now got installation date of 8th April so very excited. I am using local firm and they say on their paperwork that they are happy to take credit card payments so have just got 0% card activated in readiness. Can now switch ISA's in April is I can find a reasonable payer. Best of luck.0 -
Fruit & Nut case, interesting. But I don't think it would make any difference.0

Ok, an update. I've been torn between the two companies, I got another couple of rough quotes but both were more expensive
We've decided to go with the first company. I emailed them a list of questions on Saturday & they responded within a couple of hours :j Obviously, once I've paid they won't be so quick :rotfl:
So, I have all the paperwork here and I'm about to sign away my children's savings  A bit nervous but looking forward to getting them and watching how much we generate.
Thanks for all your help guys :beer:0 -
