New O2 contract

Can you scan the advert your daughter had seen to entice her into the store?
Firstly there was no advert she wanted a better phone and more minutes so she went into the O2 shop to see what they could offer her
I'm looking at an advert now, the bottom line shows Subject to status, payment by direct debit and 24 month minimum term, subject to availability, tariff prices may go up. Additional charges may apply for 4G service. Uk data only , T&Cs and FUP apply see o2.co.uk/terms
And in defence to the O2 staff in store, they can only tell you about what the state of play is today.
The co-op store the bogof was there and then, would they have said 'hmm , don't by that today as we are offering them at a reduced promotional cost tomorrow' ?
Secondly the assistant quoted her £26 for a term of 24 months. with the knowledge at that precise moment she would never have to make a payment of £26 as even the first payment would be more.
Your daughter is a woman now with her own mind and soul and descision making ability, the price change is not drastic and perhaps she should have asked the question then if price changes is such a concern
Thirdly the money has nothing to do with it if you read my posts my beef (or horse) concerns CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Are the staff there to help you and give you advice or to get what the can by any means. Long live Athur Daley.0 -

Does your daughter have any concerns about the deal she has agreed to? Or are you acting the interferring Father?
If the staff had thrown in chargeable insurance, I could agree more with your disappointment, but the 'warnings' you expect your daughter to have had in store , IMO is asking a little too much, the signed for agreement is towards agreeing a minimum term not a fixed price.0 -
Don't you have any contract to comprove the conditions?0

The contract does not mention a price, it mentions a minimum term and that VAT and RPI can affect the monthly figure paid, services maybe added or withdrawn etc but no price, you are never signing up for a fixed price.0 -

My daughter isn't happy, she went to O2 for advice.
She didn't expect them to warn her of anything just give her true facts so she could make her own mind up
One of the "facts" they gave her was you'll pay £26 per month for 2 years they knew this wasn't true at the time they said it. In reality none of her payments will be £26.0 -

Now I'm definately dissapointed, she goes to her Father for advice, true or not true?
The staff at the store are sales representatives not advisors.
I have done some retail work, and I cannot see how why in Preston alone the staff would act any differently, whether they clinch a deal or not, they still get paid, it's not comission based.
The rep didn't say as fact that your daughter will pay £26 a month for the next 2 years, and you as a bright adult know that is true,
1) the rep does not control base rate announcements
2) the rep does not dictate the vat rate
3) The rep does not know if your daughter is going to exceed the airtime bundle or attract extra charges like roaming or none inclusive calls or premium rated calls etc
4) The rep perhaps said this deal is currently £26 per month and there is a 24 month minimum comittment.
It is not an attack on you, I do feel though you are being unnecessarily being petty about what or what shouldn't have been said and perhaps you are voicing it at the wrong audience, eg Telefonica CEO or the UK head rep for O2 ?
Or if it's just that you wanted to vent off a little then fair enough.0 -
Fact They quoted her £26 per month
Fact If you all know the prices were going up then so did the sales people in the O2 shop
Fact she will never make a payment of only £26
Fact What they told her was not true.
Not a fact just an expectation sales people in an O2 shop should act honestly to everyone.0 -
I'd consider it miss-selling if a shop sold you a contract costing £X, knowing that it was going to go up to £X+2.8% (and they withheld that information)0

£26 per month was what it was at the time of agreement.
I we all know the prices were going up and so do the sales people then your daughter and you must have known too.
The O2 staff do act honestly, as mention you are ranting at the wrong audience if you want change from the system.
If your daughter is old enough to sign up a contract, she is old enough to make her own descicions, you can't keep trying to pick up the pieces for her, one day you won't be around for her (nature dictates that) , so just inspire her with logic and wisdom and the need to ask what she needs to ask when she needs to ask it.
But it is time for you to both realise the world does not revolve around your daughter (well not to outsiders) O2 have done nothing wrong, somebody in your family has decided to bury their heads in the sand and only see what they wish to see.
If it's not about the money and you are already bright enough to know the staff anywhere do not control future changes, and that the contract does not stipulate a price, then what is it you want fro this thread?0 -

Can you show us a contract where the price is on the agreement? A phone contract we are talking here.0
