Thanks for the kind messages, Honey Bear and mrs-mp. Mr Ionafan is very touched to know that people who don't know him personally are wishing him well. It's all helping to keep his stress levels down.
In my HHC I did everything necessary from today's list, apart from tidying my desk (which is no longer a job for a dumper truck, thanks to earlier decluttering). I have spent the last hour writing a list of fittings which I will sell with the house, which the estate agent asked for.
DH has brought me a :coffee: (the wheels that keep this household moving need regular lubrication, Honey Bear!) so I can't put off finishing the paper frog any longer. It's beginning to brighten up, and it looks as if the sun might be emerging from behind all the cloud, so maybe we'll get a nice afternoon out despite this morning's less-than-encouraging weather forecast
Back to work!!!!0 -
Hi everyone. I'm back to try Flylady again after a few months MIA. I'm pleased to say that I've got more into the habit of doing a bit of cleaning and tidying most days. But I'd just like a bit more structure to it to help me do a but more than basic flying.
I work full time but I've been off since yesterday with a stomach bug. I can't go back to work till I've been clear of symptoms for 48 hours so ill have lots of time to fly! In particular the study room is a real tip so I need to focus there.
skint hope your appointment goes ok today
kazwookie hope they catch the idiot that drove into you!
dancemum good luck to your DS1 for his exam
ionafan hope your husband's retirement goes to plan
mrsgibbs get well soon
natty and Dusty thanks so much for keeping up the lists
Here's my up to date list
Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
Basic Flying
DONE :j
Deep Cleaning
Clean kitchen cupboard doors, don't forget kickboards.
Clean kitchen window making it sparkle, don't forget to clear the windowsill of unwanted gumph!!
Decluttering
HHC - put on some lively music and have a bop around while doing this.
Clear out any cupboards that are getting overfilled with gibble, rehome if possible if not bin!
Clear out all out of date food from fridge, move nearly out of date stuff to front ready to use.
Tuesday - Living Room, stairs, landing and hallway
Basic Flying
Vacuum floor, remember to pick up anything that doesn't belong here.
Dust, even if around everything.
15 minutes hotspot
Deep Cleaning
Wipe all electricals, light switches, light bulbs and anything else that is shiney
Tidy up coats, shoes, umbrellas and bags - rehome if not needed downstairs.
Wipe sticky marks from walls and paintwork
Wash any smelly throws, cushions/covers even dog toys if needed.
Decluttering
Get a bag or box, go around collecting things that are not in the place they should be, then put them back where they should be. You could delegate and give everyone their own misplaced things to deal with
Phone a friend or loved one, catch up on the gossip or just to tell them you care xx
Check where important documents like passports, birth certificates, driving licences, medical cards are and make a note of where they are and if any need replacing, changing etc
Sort through any magazines or paperwork lying around. Any that you don't want/need maybe you could give to the Dr's or Dentists near you.
Declutter those pesky spider webs, they are making an appearance now the weather is turning warmer!
Wednesday - Bathroom and Study/PC Area
Basic Flying
Clean toilet, sink and bath
Wash shower curtain
Clean mirrors
Hoover floors.
Dust desk, remove anything that shouldn't be there.
Deep Cleaning
Wash your shower curtain or shower screen
Clean the toilet bowl on the outside and the floor in front of it, especially for those with little boys!
Wipe keyboard and mouse - these can get really germy so very important
Decluttering
Check your medicine cabinet - throw away any out of date medicines etc.
Check through those bottles.. what can be flung/decanted/and do you not need to buy until next Christmas?
Delete 10 links in your favourites which you no longer use or don't work.
Clear a mega hotspot!.. shred it.. and fling it.. or just burn it!
Better get a move on ... Need to get showered and dressed first :rotfl:0 -
Honey_Bear wrote: »Fingers crossed for Skint's appointment. It sounds as though things are unravelling a bit and I want to help ravel them up again. Can I virtually hold Holly and DS for your while you sleep?
Very much appreciated HoneyB, and everyone else for their kind words. I am back after ESA appointment, jumping through narrow hoops ain't the word for it - I think I would have stood more chance jumping through a spaghetti hoop.
I left house 20 minutes late, as an incentive I resorted to bribery with DS (not a method usually approved by the Skinty Parenting Handbook) namely a drive through MaccieD which enabled me to get within spitting distance of my appointment with 15 minutes to spare.
My reverse parking is usually very good, and there was a tight but not unachievable space right close by - but today do you think I could get the angle right? Not a chance
So I buzzed the buzzer with the full intention of telling them I had arrived but needed an alternative place to park, after 5minutes of ringing the buzzer, I gave up got back in the car, circling round and round trying to find another side street to park in where I was least likely to be ticketed.
I found one near enough at the hospital I got to get my jaws done, but was unsure of how long it would take me to walk back, so I rang the number on the letter and explained what had happened.
Thank goodness the single pushchair was in the back, at a brisk walk took 15 minutes with DS running alongside to get back to where I was, so I was still late - only to arrive remember the story book and colouring pencils were in the car :mad::eek::mad:
The woman taking the interview had clearly written her report before I got in, and was most frustrated that I refused to co-operate with her by having words put in my mouth within the first 3 minutes.
In my former life, I know all the tricks of guiding a conversation, and how unprincipled individuals can get people to say yes when really they mean sometimes/don't know or worse no. I felt this was going to be my only chance to "answer" their questions for myself, whether she liked my answers or not.
It didn't take long for the frustration to get the tears going and they didn't stop. Because she was only interested in ticking boxes (or in this case deleting what she had pre-typed) rather than listening to what I had to say and gleaning the salient points, the whole exercise was pointless, except maybe for the receptionist who may have had a private chuckle to herself about my awful passport photo that I produced for ID. In hindsight, there are so many things I wished I had said, but was shut up before I could get it out.
DS was not impressed and said "Nasty lady made you cry, she needs to sit on naughty chair for time out" Out of the mouths of babes and all that......
Just have to wait now for the axe to fall -
Now, a little bit of Skinty list for the day
DD3 has dentist for extraction tonight, once DD2 comes in after that I will head down to Minor Injuries to get this arm re-dressed as agony doesn't come close today.
Then I can sit in all day tomorrow and wait for my replacement steam mop to be delivered :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - its surprising what one simple gadget can do to improve your mind set, and the spiral it causes when it becomes unavailable
If Holly lets me, then I will have some ME time overnight to re-visit my family tree research as I have been disconnected from it for quite sometime.....I can't say I have earned it, but I can say I need it
Time for a brew and then enter Daisy mode before getting DS back from nurseryThe cold never bothered me anyway0 -
Skint sounds like it has been a really stressful morning for you. Take care of yourself, especially with the burns.
Since my last post I have:
Showered and dressed
Made bed
Sorted and put away clean laundry
Had lunch
For the next hour or so I plan to tackle basic cleaning on living room, stairs, hallway, bathroom and study. I will then take a walk to the local shops for some bits and pieces and some fresh air.
Later on I will do an hour's ironing and then if there is time I will do more on deep cleaning.
Off I go!0 -

Hi all - no, I haven't had anything awful happen, I'm just running later than usual today.;)
Kazw (((HUG))) and hope that karma catches up with White Van Man in the very near future.Dustykitten wrote: »Mum2 and Mum5 - DH and I not on good terms either right now, must be spring! Many thanks LW, I will say that I sort of lost yesterday. And yes I'm ashamed to say I didn't get showered or do my hair yesterday, I just got dressed and that wasn't until 6.30pm. But I made up for it today and had a long soak in the bath. Anyway went to the Dr's and that was a total mess up.. I had asked to see my dr and it was confirmed over the phone, but when I went in there they said it was with another dr. Was told that my dr could actually fit me in, so sat and waited but then the original dr called me.. Well as you can imagine I did not do too well at all and spent most of the appointment in tears, which was not conclusive to trying to explain to him what I wanted. Bless him he was brilliant and the appt actually lasted just over half an hour :A Talked to him about everything that has been going on, how I am feeling and other stuff. The upshot of it is he is putting me forward for secondary care psychotherapy, has increased my antidepressants to the maximum dosage you can have and has sent me home with a letter to DH to request he takes charge of my medications as I am not stable enough to keep them myself... Told me not to worry about the forms, I have enough going to on to back me up etc.. Which was something the chemist/pharmacist also said when I was in there. They gave me a lovely cup of tea while waiting for my meds, I think they saw I was still upset plus they also know me too..so that helps.
Today I have on my recently-washed (it was covered in Mary-fur:D) grey-with-purple-flecks velvety skirt, and a purple velvety top.:oskint_breeder_5 wrote: »DS was not impressed and said "Nasty lady made you cry, she needs to sit on naughty chair for time out" Out of the mouths of babes and all that......
I have, reluctantly, dug the rubber gloves out of the drawer, so that I can keep my wrist splints on for some of the tasks that involve putting hands in water. I hate wearing them (the splints and the rubber gloves) but needs must....
Bathroom is as sparkly as I can get it; I've had to have a little word with Mr LW about leaving shaving "detritus" in the wash-basin for me to clean:cool: - hopefully he will be a bit more thorough about swishing down after himself. The trouble is, he can't see it because he hasn't got his specs on (he shaves as much by feel as anything) so he doesn't always realise.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Thanks LW, we are friends again now, DH sulks for a few days, I ignore him then he comes around. With 3 kids, working in a school etc I know how to deal with sulking
Tidies around
Cleaned the toilets
Doing the most urgent bits on here next, almost time for another cuppaThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
