And you are so funny in that you don't seem to understand that this is a consumer rights board and the replies given have been to advise people of their rights.
If a shop is operating within the law but doesn't give what you feel is good customer service, surely a good place for comments would be the "Praise, vent & warnings" board.

I understand fully that this a consumer rights board, it's just so sad that a lot of the wannabe lawyers here have no compassion.

Is compassion going to get them their consumer rights? Will it help get their money back where they have no rights to it?

No, but they will feel better and understand that not all shops offer the same level of customer service.

So which posts havent shown compassion to the OP then? All of them? What advice can you offer the OP that they havent been given already? Or did you just post to try and insult others?

Still, as shaun said, its a consumer rights board, not a consumer wants board. There is nothing wrong with pointing out to people that they are not entitled to something by law. It helps them appreciate those companies who go above and beyond in their returns policies/customer services instead of taking them for granted.

Would you rather we made villians out of companies who barely comply with statute and make them think that generous stores arent anything special?

That's the problem, you and a lot of the others can no longer see how mean you sound to people who think they are in the right.

It only takes one or two people to tell them in a nicer way.

Compassion = a feeling of distress and pity for the suffering of others and the desire to relieve it.

I think you chose the wrong word. Someone who has made a purchasing mistake and asserts a right; before checking they have that right; can hardly be described as suffering a misfortune.

A person could show empathy for another's mistake. However, this was a straightforward question of consumer rights. I can't see how it deserves anything other than an answer.

When posting on this board, my responses tend to be tailored to the tone of the poster with the issue.

If they say "I was really surprised that x shop wouldn't give me a refund. Is this really right?", I'll tell them 'in a nice way' that they are wrong.

If they scream, shout, stamp their feet and post with lots of smileys like this  while declaring they've been ripped off - and probably still continue in that vein after several posters have explained their rights - then telling them 'in a nice way' just won't cut it.

Perhaps you'd like to quote posts where I've been mean to posters on this board? Or pmail it to me.

The only time I've seen most of the regulars be "mean" (as you put it) is when the poster in question has either insulted them, been abusive or is incredibly ignorant.

Granted you do get one or two who cant seem to form a civil reply but they are by far the minority.

However, you should lead by example. In other words, you should be replying to try and help the OP rather than posting just to insult/be abusive to others. Oh but one rule for you and another for everyone else, right?
