It probaly has changed most likely to keep costs down. You can of course take it in at any time if you have any concerns or something goes wrong. You have to get it MOTd at the end of the three years as it's then due to change hands.
Absolute tosh. Motability cars are serviced annually or at the manufacturers recommended mileage - whichever is the sooner. The garage that you got the car from arranges the annual service with you or you contact them to arrange the service should you be approaching the mileage as specified. There is no charge for this. Indeed I took mine in this past week for its first service, had a courtesy car for the day and got mine back fully serviced AND valeted at no charge. Not saying they will all clean your car for you but there's certainly no charge on the service itself.

It's more likely to have changed because servicing intervals have increased over the years since I started driving. Showing my age here: anyone else remember being advised to 'run in' a new car (or with a new engine) and not drive at over 50 mph for the first X miles?

I can remember seeing cars with hand-written signs in the rear window saying 'Running In, please pass' :)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Are you saying then that you cannot take your Motability car into your dealer at any time should an issue arise and are you saying that your Motability car doesn't require an MOT at the end of the three year term?

No I don't think he is. Your just twisting it.

You can take the car in at anytime if you have an issue, common sense would dictate this as does the lease agreement.

As for the MOT the same garage you get the car from do this for you and contact you to arrange it, they tend to MOT and service the care at same time prior to handing it back. They did this with mine about a week before it went back in January 2013.

I'm not twisting it at all.

He said "absolute tosh" and I was just wondering what he/she was classifying as "absolute tosh".

Was it where I said "It probaly has changed most likely to keep costs down" or was it where I said "You can of course take it in at any time if you have any concerns or something goes wrong." or was it where I said "You have to get it MOTd at the end of the three years as it's then due to change hands."

Or was he/she classifying all 3 as "absolute tosh"!

My BIL has a [Motability] Peugeot 3008 due to change in next few months and hasn't needed a service during the 3 years only a quick look-see after a few months of getting it brand new.

It's up to the manufacture what they do with respect to servicing the car. Modern cars nowadays need far less servicing than the old days when you had to "run them in" for the first few hundred miles; then they just dropped to bits!!! :D

I've had mobility cars since 2004 and NEVER had to pay for a service. I am assuming you booked it in at the same garage you got it from, not an independent garage?

Service intervals on a 3008 are 24 months so getting close!
