I have a mobility car and it went for its yearly service yesterday

when i booked it I got them to come and pick the car up and drop it of when they have finished with it.

Yesterday afternoon the phone went and it was the car company saying they had finished the car but they wanted me to pay for the service

can they expect me to pay for the service even tho its a mobility car

thank you for reading

No they can't - they just may not realise that it's a motability car. Happened to me as well and as soon as you advise them they sort it out, or at least they should.

When you say a 'mobility car' I assume you mean a car leased on the 'Motability Scheme'?

If so then did you take it for a service to the dealer that you got it from?

Generally though Motability cars are changed every 3 years and normally don't need servicing over that time just perhaps after the first 6 months to tighten up a few nuts and bolts as it were.

Motability cars are serviced yearly as part of the scheme.

I would check its the same dealer you took it to as they would have contacted you to arrange the booking.

Servicing will either be at set times during your lease, or when your car has been driven a certain number of miles. Here

Well it must have changed then cause my car had 3 services in the 3 years I had it!

It was yearly or every 10k for the car I had, so could have been serviced more if I had done more miles.

I always had a service every year until this time. They told me it's now changed and it's not until the car's computer tells me it needs doing will I get it done. I rang mobility to check and they say that this is right and not to worry.
Thanks for any help and advice given

It probaly has changed most likely to keep costs down. You can of course take it in at any time if you have any concerns or something goes wrong. You have to get it MOTd at the end of the three years as it's then due to change hands.

The dealer should get authorisation from Mobility though I believe before they commence the work.
