T-shirt, jeans and my trusty Converse. Unless I have to visit a client or they are visiting us in which case I have to blow the dust off the suit. I work in IT, which outside the financial places nobody really cares about dress codes.

I don't understand the jumpers thing at all! I treat them the same as any other top: if I haven't been in a hot environment and sweated in them, I give them the sniff test! Sometimes I can get a second day's wearing from them, other times not.

None of my jumpers are wool but I have wool socks that have survived my washing machine's wool wash. I put any other clothes I have through the cycle with them and have always been fine.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

They look like the basketball boots I used to wear as child.
  • You can get away with anything at my work! It's a real mix of outdoorsy farm workers, jeans/converse-clad students/lab assistants and smart office workers. I'm office based and vary my outfit depending on what I'm doing. If I'm attending meetings, it's usually a shift dress, if I'm wandering around setting up events etc, it's jeans and Converse or if the event involves me meeting and greeting, it's a shortish skirt with thick black tights and knee length boots. If you see someone wearing a suit you know the the TV people are coming to film them!

They are the original basketball boot marketed since 1917, the ones we wore as kids were looky likes. They last a bit longer too, my oldest pair I have had since 1990.

There is a dress code in our staff handbook which is business suits for men and appropriate business wear for women. As some young women clearly had difficulty understanding what was appropriate - e.g we did not want to see their bra straps and thongs on display, nor their cleavage and navel piercings - HR issued specific guidelines on what was acceptable!

This was also applied for dress down days. Everyone knows exactly what the dress code is.

Business dress for ladies, skirts, dresses, smart tailored trousers, shirts, jackets, suits etc. Heels depend on the individual.

As bouncydog1 stated a lot of companies have a dress code which is stated in their handbook so might be worth checking if your company has one.
I love the look of shift dresses, looks very smart with a jacket or with a fine knit cardigan.

I used to work in a portacabin office on a dusty, quarry site. I used to wear jeans but did prefer black or grey trousers and a blouse as we did get lots of visitors. Depending on the blouse style it could look casual or smart. I also liked to wear a top under a jumper - it would have felt very casual not to but mostly I am big busted and it stopped anybody getting an eyeful or blouse buttons possibly popping open :rotfl:

I would have given anything to wear really smart clothes but a dress and rigger boots didn't look right!!
