I think the issue is timing rather than store - the later the day, the bigger the reduction. But reduced likelihood of availability, so it's all a trade-off!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I've been in CO-OP in afternoon/evening and found the reduced stuff still quite pricey.
Is there time in the evening when yellow label prices in the above stores comes down to pennies/a fraction of the original price?
Thanks.0 -

4 packs of Blueberries
6 packs of Strawberries
2 packs of Cherry Tomatoes
2 large Mushrooms , stuffed with a chillie cheese mixture
Pack ofVegetable Stir Fry
Asparagus
Carrots
And could have got loads more of Strawberries,Blueberries & Tomato but my freezer is full.
As has been said many times - Different stores ( even within the same chains ) do different things at different times/days , so it isnt realy possible to say go to store X at time Y to get the best bargains. You just have to go along to the stores yourself and work out what each is doing0 -

Different areas will have different quantities of YS last Saturday I got 32 items for £1.98 and 74p was for a MrT's finest King prawn spaghetti ready meal. I often find my best deals have been around school holidays when it's unpredictable the quantities they will sell. Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

Was just in Morrisons there. 1.5 hours before closing. Shop almost empty. Quite a lot of yellow label stuff lying about. Meat, fish, etc. It was still pricy however, and it looked like the price had been reduced by about 30% (guess.)
I see the above scenario often. What happens to all this reduced food? With only about an hour to closing, there is no way they would sell it at that price in the time remaining.
I was wondering if they reduce it further in the morning, or does it end up in the bin? I never checked the dates to see if it was about to expire.
All I got was a bag of parsnips for 15p.
EDIT - Just found this old thread regarding disappointing yellow label prices at Morrisons:

Also they are running a scheme to donate unused food to charity:

A pity as I would return to a store that has decent reduced prices for food close to it's expiry date, I also end up buying other stuff at full price like alcohol.0 -
Just been to M&s Got a Disney Frozen birthday cake reduced to £1.50 and two bunches of the most gorgeous roses and mixed blooms, Paid £3.40 for the two and they were originally just under £20.00 each.0

The day after Valentines my M&S reduced the big roses bouquets to 75p!!The only signs of deterioration was a couple of the petals blackening at the very edges. I find marks better for reductions than all of the other stores local to me.(Tesco, sainsburys, Morrisons)
This was 6.30pm ish0
