Popped into Mr T yesteray around 3pm and managed to get some great bargains.

    2 lots of flowers 5p and 8p
    Stir fry veg pack 8p
    Fresh beetroot 8p
2 packs of chicken breast strips 60p each
2 packs of marinated chicken breasts 60p each
    Veal meatballs 60p
    Fresh pesto 33p
2 packs of baby carrots 8p each

The chicken packs were 2 for £6 or 3 for £10 and the usual discount came off so it worked out that Mr T was actually paying us to take these away.

They also had lots of cooked whole chickens left which they were selling for 50% off but we didn't get any of these.

In total we spent around £2.50 and we got all of the above pluse some fullprice apple danish puffs which were very welcome as we 'd worked up an appetite with a walk out in the snow and mud earlier in the day!

I usually shop at the weekends but thought I would try evenings instead.

What are the best times for reductions; does it vary for fish, meats, bread and veg. Do I need to wait till just before the store closes or is that too late?

    Thanks

    Evenings usually.

Instore bakery and rotisserie start to reduce pies and chicken by about 7.00pm. If there is still a lot left they further reduce prices at about 8pm ish.

Bakery reductions are usually done during the day as they find going out of date products. By the end of day in the last half hour before they close they reduce what is left to 9p. Have personally got 6 pack of crusty rolls and french sticks for this price.

Cool fridges. they reduce during day as they find it. If you are lucky you will the final reductions down to 9p at about 8pm.

    Veg as above usually.

As has been said many times there is not a "one size fits all" policy , even within the same chain. Stores will operate differently depending on what works for them. In general terms an hour or two before closing is good, but you really need to go at a variety of different times to your local branch and see for yourself what they are doing
