People are definitely getting more aggressive! I find this is at it's worst in Mr. T's too, it's not so bad in Mr. M's but that could be because their reductions aren't quite as good.
I was innocently having a look in the reduced fridge section in Mr. T's last week, and got pushed aside by 2 seperate people in the space of a minute! When I'm 6 months pregnant and recovering from pneumonia, I'm lucky I didn't end up on my backside! Was not amused and was actually quite surprised people could get like that, especially pushing a pregnant woman!0 -

Was at my local MrT's. Approached the reduced section and noticed maybe 12 to 15 women stood there chatting. Never assumed anything so continued to have a sneek around.
A young lad, Maybe 16, 17, Brought 2 baskets on a trolly out and within seconds these women turned into savages.
I think now supermarkets should have a rule of maybe x amount of items per shopper when it comes to YS!
It causes fights, heated arguments & some people nearly pushed on to their backside!
I did however, After the hurl of scurrying ladies left manage to get:
x2 reduced sandwiches £0.20p
x2 "" "" wrap sandwich things £0.11p
X2 loafs of bread, long date £0.5p
x2 bread rolls 6 pack long date £0.4p
6 free range eggs, slightly damaged box £0.33p
11 bottles of mixed beers for OH £3.51.
I consider myself queen of the reduced section and go regularly for the bargains but I have never seen anybody being shoved.
People tend to share the stuff, and are generally very pleasant.0 -
I avoid YS shopping in Tesco for that reason exactly. The staff in my one don't even reduce it by as much anymore because they're fed up of everyone grabbing everything.
I shop in Asda instead now - staff are much nicer and people seem more civilised.0 -

Got a couple of YS items at Mr. M's today:
- Pot of Del Monte pineapple reduced from 48p to 19p (cost me 18p with 10% discount).
- Pack of 2 Gu Puds reduced from £3.59 to £1.85 (cost me £1.67 with discount).
Very happy with the Gu Puds, as they also had a 50p coupon in the pack for money off another 2pk0 -
I went into my local Tesco at about 10pm last week and managed to get 46 bananas for 10p. And they weren't bruised or anything! The guy reducing them said that they'd just ordered too many and needed to get rid of them before the next order came in the next day. Pretty crazy amount for so many bananas!
I also managed to get:
2 loaves of bread (1 kingsmill, 1 warburtons) for 10p each
6 sticks of rhubarb for 15p
15 tangerines for 20p
2 melons for 8p each
It wasn't a bad shop at all considering that was basically exactly what I went into the store to buy!0 -

At my local Tesco Extra there tend to be good fruit and veg reductions from mid afternoon onwards. The second reduction seems to go on about 3 pm.
However often the fruit and veg reductions only come down to what you pay in Aldi for their Super 6. People do scrum at our Tesco, but are generally polite and chatty, as are the staff.
It's the Aldi red-stickered stuff I always make a bee-line for, the prices are already so reasonable that a reduction of 30%-50% gives you a real bargain, though as with everything, it's only a bargain if you can use it.
In Tesco I sometimes watch folks filling baskets with non-freezable YS stuff and wonder where it's all going to go...Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
