Did my first solely YS shop tonight in Coop and Waitrose and saved over £15. Just imagining how much money I'm going to save from here on! I know I will get better reductions as I get more praacticed at this and find the best times to go, best shops to go to etc. This excites me!Minimalist

You need to do your own research for your own area/shops - there is no set day/time ( even within the same supermarket chain ) . Every store manager will set the discounts that work best for their store. Start going in at around 6pm / 7pm Monday-> Saturday & 2/3pm on a Sunday and see what is happening- if nothing then experiment with different times.0 -

If I'm in town on a Sunday I pop into the Little Waitrose and see if I can find any bargains. I got two loaves of seeded bread for 15p each and a packet of pastrami for 49p, haven't yet found anything as good as those since it's a small shop. The Sainsbury's Local I go to usually always has something in the reduced section, I've picked up some goodies from there before.0

i often pop into mrt on the way home from tai chi one night and i did quite well last time.couple of pizzas for 14p, beef stirfry for 40p, beef cubes 30p, a ready meal for 22p as id not had dinner and thought id see what it was like.
i pop into mr s and mrt when i can on the way to drama and can sometimes get a bargain. it a bit hit and miss but sometimes im lucky.
it can get annoying when people and trollies 'get put' or happen to be in the way. i tend to say scuse me and or nudge in as politely out of the way a little and or say can i get thier please. if not i try to be firmer but still polite. i find it a little annerving the argy bargy that can happen, or the scrum of the people just too keen to get in their, have witnessed a few things too like stuff literally taken out of staff hands as soon as it reduced. but like most watchng the pennies a must.0 -
I dont care what people comment about me... i went into Tesco the other night managed to get 2 x packs of diced beef, should off been £5 each, got them for £1.19 each
3 x packs of chicken breast, should of been £3.50 each, got them for £0.84 ..... 1 x lamb leg steaks should of been £12 , get them for £2.24 , then theres 3 x packs of sliced beef, should been £1 each got them for 10p each... and 1 pack of deli corned beef should of been £3.99 got it for 64p... bargains!!! i had the other week 2 joints of beef the fresh ones with gravy in the silver dishes should of been £5 each, got them for 49p each!!! 2 x mince should of been £3 something each.. got them for 54p each
was something like a £50 saving on meat.
... never be ashamed of embarrassed , if people wanna spend silly money on items, and you can get them cheaper for less than half the price, its a bonus .. works for me the extra i save then means the family can do other things that month without having to worry . we not "poor" but we aint rich either, we get by... and able to get some luxury items or holidays due to the bargain hunting.0 -
I have to say YS shopping has got harder where I live - went to A last night about 8pm and there was probably only 30% taken off still, used to be way more by that point. I am also beginning to get a little pickier as I am not as tight with cash so will only choose the brown bread options etc so I can stick without my diet - finding myself accepting lesser discounts now as they just don't seem as impressive as they were in the past. But then again ... every little saving adds up!0
