Driving wrong way in supermarket car park

In conclusion - obey zebra crossings, they're helpful and increase safety.
Silly one way systems - ignore if the car park's empty etc.
And on the subject of reverse parking. I always try to do this where possible. As well as making it easier to get out, you perform all your low speed manoevring when the car is warmed up (i.e. reversing at the end of your journey to said car park), which the car prefers.
No one else has answered so maybe you can, how do you get the trolley to the back of the car to empty it, assuming you havent always got an empty space next to you.
Not convinced by your warmed up car argument, I probably park and reverse when cold more than most people, on average about 10 times every day and my cars do over 100000 miles before they go back with no adverse efects due to reversing when cold0 -
This is the sod.No one else has answered so maybe you can, how do you get the trolley to the back of the car to empty it, assuming you havent always got an empty space next to you.
In fact reverse parking drastically reduces accidents. I was a bit sceptical (along the lines of putting lids on coffee cups) but one of our HSSE guys had figures.
The fact the supermarkets make this difficult/impossible is quite reprehensible. I'm not saying they should force people to reverse park just they should make it possible....
From memory for a company of 1200 people all parking each day this reduced the average accidents by a very significant figure.... so I can't see it being that different for supermarkets.0 -

So how do you load up after reverse parking?0 -

Yes there is that, but I tend to go shopping at odd times and park in quiet corners of the supermarket

Granted the difference is minute but still there, also it'll save fuel slightly. I think steve's point about accidents is more what I should have been getting at.0 -
You have to have gaps between the rows of cars that shoppers can push their trolleys along.Chopper_Read wrote: »So how do you load up after reverse parking?0 -
gosh op do not go giving them ideas on how to make money,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I am sure every one of us have done this at least onceI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

But that is my point, most supermarket car parks are busy so you can never gtee a gap.
As i have said that doesnt seem to matter to most as they just wheel their trolley between their car and the one next to it with the smallest of margin for error. of course when they hit a car its not their own!!!!0 -
No, I mean you have to design the car park with pedestrian gaps between the parking spaces. But that is my point, most supermarket car parks are busy so you can never gtee a gap.

ie.
|Road|Parking|Pedestrian|Parking|Road|etc.
|Road|Parking|Pedestrian|Parking|Road|etc.
|Road|Parking|Pedestrian|Parking|Road|etc.
|Road|Parking|Pedestrian|Parking|Road|etc.
etc.
Of course it won't happen in the UK because of greed - they try and cram in as many cars as they can into as small a space as possible.0 -

Of course all this would be possible if, instead of planting shrubberies behind the parking spaces (as in my local Tesco and Sainsburys) they created walkways, this would not only encourage people to reverse park but would also create seperation between moving vehicles and pedestrians.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
