Driving wrong way in supermarket car park

At our local supermarket we also have an imitation box junction (painted in white) that can be ignored too.

Presumably you choose to ignore the Zebra crossings as well (like a lot of @rseholes at our local Tesco), right up to the time you mow down that mother with her kids, but hey, it's not a public highway so it doesn't count, I'm aware that the road markings are not enforceable in the same way as a public highway, however they are there to provide some sort of decorum and safety for other car park users.

I see it happening sometimes,it will be an offence if you knock a shopper down, when he/she has observed the arrow markings, and looked in the direction the traffic is travelling from

    I get it.

So I can legally knock my m-i-l down as she wanders towards her car at Tesco as long as I drive in accordance with the arrows.

    Result.

    Thank you.

I think too many drivers don't generally understand zebra crossings at all.
I've been hit twice at these things on the local retail park, slow moving cars, both times I managed to jump up onto the cars bonnet, leaving a nice BIG dent for them to get fixed. The Police were involved the first time (because the driver figured I should pay for the damage), but the driver (despite arguing it was my fault) got treated to 15mins in the back of the Police car and consequences unknown.

Oddly it's only ever been women and old people that seem to ignore them, which would suggest it's education rather than arrogance or malicious intent.

If you want to be technical, they are if they're on the council owned entrance road.....

So they are proper crossings with amber beacons and zigzags?

    Moronic comment of the day.

Does it matter about the legal status of the crossing? If you knock someone down on one, then you are going to be in deep !!!! irrespective of the legal status.

That will depend on the circumstances, if they run straight in front of your car why are they any different to any other piece of road?

If there are no stop lines where is a driver legally required to stop?

And there is also the possible offence of driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users.

Does it take practice to be quite that stupid?

Do you honestly think that any court would agree that your actions were sensible, and your defense of "there were no stop lines so I was entitled to run them down" would hold any water.

If you do have a driving licence, please post it back to the DVLA telling them that you don't have the intelligence to hold one.
