Hi all,
sorry i was missing in action yesterday, went out with son to talk about options, he is feeling a bit down, as he thinks he has failed himself, he reckons he will get a 2nd but knows he could've got a first so is determined to do better for his masters should he go for it. We went to a few banks/building societies and found some info about career development loans, so he has some more info to work with when it comes to decision time.
Then i came home and the SHTF with hubby, he has been down for a wee while now but yesterday i reached the "enough" stage, ( i think spending the day with son who was also down but was working his way through it rather than wallowing made me snap) he said something hurtful and i just lost it, we havnt had a falling out for such a long long time so i think he was shocked at how angry i was, i told him yes he may be feeling depressed but that doesn't give him the right to behave like a p£i(k it just gives him the right to feel depressed. So we are still not speaking but i am sure we will make up, i have sympathy for him i really do, but you know something, right now i feel more sympathy for myself having to put up with the crap cause i really don't deserve it either and i am suffering as well.
Anyway today is a new day and i am going to be filling in an application form for agency work ( yep bob i have one lined up, hopefully i will get enough work so that i just need to keep my contract with my current company). I have written in the book do not contact during june and i have crossed myself off the rota,
i am going to spend a wee while in the garden and get some time to me doing what i want to do instead of suiting others, and then i will get to bed for a few hours before going to work
hope all is good with everyone
oh finance wise ( that is why we are here after all lol) more direct debits have came out and remainder of money transferred to holiday account0 -

Hi there hug from me too!
I went to the bank to talk about CDL's and they actually managed to sort me a low interest loan instead. We talked through the options and I borrowed enough for my fees and living expenses and the rate was really competitive
Now I know thats not a solution but its anohter way of looking at it. A CDL (as I'm sure you know) is paid back immediately you graduate, which for me would have been terrible as it took so long for me to find work. The loan I took I started paying the month I started my MSc but we'd factored that in too, so I had enough money to pay it back, live and pay my fees.
Just a thought - not to stick my nose in but thought maybe as I'd looked at them all and been advised this route, I wonder if its another thing to consider.
Have another hug!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

I'm with Pippy on this one.
I have a CDL. They want the money back as soon as you finish your course and they want 100%. Its very black and white. No spreading it over 10 years instead of 5, no paying a reduced rate cos you've only got a part time or lower level job. They are also very good at not telling you the first payment is due until you have already missed one and your credit rating is hammered.
I have NEVER missed a loan or mortgage payment prior to having a CDL, now I've missed 3 all CDL's!!!
While I'm on...why does your son have to have a first. A 2i will do perfectly well for a Masters. If he worked hard and did his best he has NOTHING to be ashamed of!

Thanks for the hugs xxxx
Will look more into the loan things when son has fully decided what he wants to do, just now he is brushing off his stress and playing golf with his paps, he says the talk with me really helped so he's ready to be pro active again
I don't think he would be ashamed of a 2 if he knew he had worked his hardest for it, I think he is more angry with himself as he knows he didn't put as much effort in as he should have, and if he had he would've walked a 1 with distinction, but he feels he has let himself down, does that make sense ?0 -
