Will upgrading to Flexdirect affect the Flexclusive regular saver?

"The travel insurance and promotional offers that come with your FlexAccount will stop when you upgrade to FlexDirect. "

    Hi

I raised this question with Nationwide as I have a flex account linked to a flexclusive saver, I have received a reply which is below, that the flexclusive saver will still be honored, so a win win

    Dear xxx
    Thank you for your message.

If you are upgrading an existing Current Account to a FlexDirect then your account number will remain the same and your direct debits and regular transfers will continue to be processed as normal. This is because you are upgrading/downgrading your existing account rather than opening a whole new product.

I confirm you can still keep the Flex Regular Saver Account open and invest a maximum of £250.00 into the Flex Regular Saver each month.
I would like to thank you for contacting us, if you need anything else please reply to this message.

I get really fed up of your constant snarkiness. It's like it is a real chore for you actually help people. I would rather sometimes that you just didn't reply at all. Other members have expressed a similar opinion too.

No worries, I won't be posting any URLs for you any longer if you think that is "constant snarkiness". I now have you on my ignore list.

Very tempted at first to upgrade our existing account - but have decided as we travel abroad as much as finances will allow the travel insurance is worth more to us (pensioners ;)) than the 5% benefit over the year.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

What happens if I request not to have an overdraft (I always do this, never ever plan on going into it for the foreseeable future.)

just done the application. it gives a loading page where it tells you its doing the credit check during your application. only after this do you get the option of saying you dont want an overdraft

Sorry, I know this is a really basic question but at the end of the 12 months, how much interest would you have earned? The Nationwide site says up to £125 before tax, is it £100?

yes £100 if you keep £2500 in the account for the whole term and are a basic rate tax payer

Obviously.. I mean, if the reason you get bad credit rating for opening to many accounts is because potentially you can have lots of accounts in overdraft. Surely if I dont have an overdraft available, they cant give me a worse credit rating as there is never a risk to me owing anyone money.

FlexDirect is a full current account, therefore you can go overdrawn whether or not you apply for an overdraft, like any other full current account. The only difference is if you apply for one and stay within the limits, its fee free for the first 12 months.

So like I said before, a current account is an application for credit, whether you use it or not.
