Can you not both break down your debts/bills into more manageable chunks? Then your % would be easier to find. Even if you split the figure in half.
    For example:
If you're total bills/debt was £5000 your 1% would be £50, but if you broke it in half-£2500, then your 1% would only be £25. I know it means you're only tackling half the debt (on paper), however, if the %s were more manageable you would achieve your goal quicker. Once that half is achieved, yo can do the same wi the other half. IYSWIM.:)

I like this method - tbh i was looking at my total debt of £35k + and was thinking its going to take me forever to get rid - so i am going to tackle my 1% one at a time and change my signature accordingly.

    My highest APR is

    Loan - £600 and my 1% is £6
  • Thanks tattycath, I was thinking the same too.

I think it's because I want it gone so badly, that the idea of splitting it into 200% just niggles me, somehow.

I'll give this a think, have another look at figures and perhaps revise it.

I have just started a diary and one of the things I wrote was that I wanted to cut out wasting money on junk food so I could lose the lb kind of pounds while saving the £ kind of pounds :D

I think it's a winter thing too though - stuck inside and eating comfort food. Roll on spring/summer!

I've made myself a rule that I won't pay to eat out, unless it's super healthy. Didn't always buy junk but now and again a can of coke here or a pasty there, soon adds up.
I'm also declaring March as "MY March" :) to get control on it. Hopefully!

It certainly does add up - I dread to think how much I have spend on junk food over the years!

I like the 'MY March' idea and hope it goes well for you! :)

I'm still ploughing through the long term loan overpaying. It's down by £6000 over the last 14 months which is good going £148.80 overpaid for March from money saved from payday, water bill money not needed this month and a couple of eBay sales.

    33% paid off now.

Hoping for more sales for this month too pay some more off.
