Br non !!! Tax code

So, if this is your only employment for years, you have no P45 to hand in.
However, you can claim this tax back, and you should have your P60s which will confirm the tax you have paid under your current coding of BR.
Sounds to me like your payroll department have just left you running on this tax code. I used to be in payroll and if new employees did not have a P45, I would send them a P46 out for them to sign.
Here's how to claim your tax back when paid too much via PAYE.

But is it your only income?
If for example you are in receipt of a pension, this could be using your tax free personal allowance, meaning that any subsequent income is taxed at BR.
If you have no other income then the tax code is incorrect and you need to phone HMRC.0 -
No its my only income.0

If this has been going on for years I don't understand why you haven't automatically been provided with tax refunds and the tax code been changed. It's all rather strange, you should definitely ring for advice."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

You must sort this out quickly as you can only claim back over paid tax for 4 years now, so find the P60's for 2011/12 - 2010/11 - 2009/10 - 2008/09 and get them into the tax office address as soon as you can.

Drinks are on you then as it sounds you should be due a slab of tax back as it appears your annual allowance has not been provided via your tax code.

BR means you pay tax on all the income at Basic rate ie 20%, you are getting no tax allowance.
So you are paying at least £1600 a year too much in tax as others have said you can only claim back 4 years now, so do it now. I've paid the CSA off and stopped them taking payments:beer:
I'm stillowed some arrears by my ex
I was a NRP, now I'm a PWC, partner of a PWC, and parent of a PWC ( and very confused at times )0 -
BR is an emergency tax code
You need to phone them asap and get them to change it, and type out a letter and request a rebate for all the years you've been on that code.0 -

No its not!
BR is normally used when all your income is taxed at the basic rate 20% (most commonly used for a second job or pension).Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0
