No it is not the right code - it should be at least 810L which means you can earn tax free this year upto £8105.00 - That is your personal allowance and this gets divided into either weekly or monthly amounts (£155.87/£675.42).
To correct that you need to either hand in a P45 part 2 & 3 to your employer or complete form P46. This then gives your employer authority to use code 810L x often now expressed as W1/M1. That is still non cumulative at this point, but at least you pay a slightly more accurate rate of tax. Eventually the Tax office should authorise a new notice of coding to your employer that states the right one of 810L which is the cumulative one. Next year it will be £9440 or 940L.0 -
Thank you, where do I get these forms from?0

P46 - employer can provide or download from http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/p46exemptonline.pdf
P45 - would have been provided if you left another employer this tax year (since 6 April 2012)
P45 should be used if you have one and this is now your only employment.0 -
Thank you but I am still confused, perhaps I should tell you a bit more. I worked for nurse bank for many years up until july 2012 on tax code BR CUMUL. A company called NHSP then took over the nurse bank and I was transferred to them since then I have been on tax code BR NONCUM. Iwould have thought all documents from my employment would be transferred to NHSP. Maybe I should ring HMRC and ask about my tax code?0

As far as the amount of tax you pay is concerned BR CUMUL and BR NONCUM are allmost exactly the same, your problem is that you are on BR code the way it is being applied is irrelavent.
How long have you been on BR when this was your only employment?0 -
Have your NI number to hand and a payslip and ring up HMRC and they will sort it out for you.:j0

I have been on BR for years and this has always been my only employment.0

Best thing to do it ring up your local tax office state what jobs you do (if you only do one or more) and ask if you are on the right code.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
