That sounds lovely Candlewick
I have made and frozen my work sandwiches for the week. Cheese slices and 4 different types of wafer thin meat. I will take a small container of pickled gerkins to work with me to add to the sandwich at lunchtimeI bought a bag of satsumas, 5 small packs of grpes and some baked stars too, so I am pretty much sorted for the week.
If I can stick to this, I will have saved around £50 this week :money:SPC9 #125 - £816.85

Hi 32b, £50 saving is a tidy sum :T
I've been lurking on the OS board and they're talking about taking pasta salads to work, I am craving pasta now!
Oh why oh why did I start a foodie themed thread? Each time I read about lovely recipes and scrummy food I end up staaaarvingI am quite literally going to end up house-sized :rotfl:

I've never seen frozen sandwiches, Kittiej, but I *know* that bread freezes so if I've ever seen something frozen in a supermarket then I figure it's okay to freeze as a sandwich filling!
I took advantage of a 2 for £1 offer on crusty rolls on my supermarket shop and then ran out of freezer space so I have bagged them separately and put them in the freezer at work. If I take out one a day when I arrive they will defrost by lunchtime.
Today I had cheese in my roll and there's enough left for another day. I will try to eke out another days filling from tonight's tuna/peppers/sweetcorn jacket potato topping for tomorrow.
I spent £1.88 this morning on a pack of crumpets and a multipack of crisps for the week but, assuming I can rustle up something from home for Friday, aside from my Wethersp00ns lunch on Wednesday I shouldn't have to spend anything elseMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Hi, would it be ok if I joined in please. I'm currently doing Slimming World, so it is soooooo much better for me to bring my lunch to work with me, however, sometimes I do get a bit lazy and nip to the coop round the corner. I have got 17 days at work this month (not counting today!) so I will go for 17 please!October make £10/day currently £11.020

Hey, nipping to the co-op is okay (in my book) as long as you're buying ingredients and not ready-made stuff

Evening everybody :j
Hi FatVonD, I love crusty rolls but they seem to go stale really quickly. Well done with the savings :T and I see what you mean about the frozen food ideas = making suitable sandwiches for freezing.
Hi Avogirly :hello: welcome to the thread. If you need any inspiration then there are some good ideas on the first post.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Evening
I had my first frozen sandwich today, it was OK, but it was still a bit frozen so I had to toast it! I still think it is an excellent idea
I did consider getting tomorrow's sandwich out of the freezer tonight, but I like the idea of taken it to work frozen!
I haven't spent any money at work this week yet

Hi 32b - you can be the frozen LTW experiment and experiencer
Great to know how these things turn out. Very well done on the savings too :T
I have taken my LTW both days so far, another 2 to go, I had grated cheese and pickle on malted bread and it was lushI had cheese and coleslaw yesterday and that was pretty good too. I don't know if anyone else has tried the value multi-pack of crisps from Tesco but they are nice @ 5.5p a packet and there's 3 flavours :j
I need to eat as cheaply as possible until 'Bang and the debt is gone' :rotfl:Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -

We buy those on the weekends when we have both sets of kids because they go through them like a plague of locusts! I liked it when they did the packs of just ready salted as they were lush! `I'm not keen on the salt and vinegar but the cheese and onion ones are good enough too.
I have prawn cocktail this week from the reduced shelf, not my favourite flavour but, hey, it makes them last longerMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

hi everyone
hope you are all enjoying your lunch! I have eaten mine already.
Had cheese and pickle sandwich made with home made granary bread and it was lovely. Had some cherry tomatoes on the side, as always, and a piece of cake (usually have that in afternoon, but couldnt wait that long!) and a yoghurt. I have a banana on standby for mid afternoon - lol!!
Am working at home tomorrow so may have something different - pitta bread with houmous and olives or may make some soup... lentil and whatever veg look like they need a change of direction! Did our food shop on Monday evening and no need to do any more shopping now till Saturday.
"Speak" to you all tomorrow! Have a great rest of day...Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...
