Glad I read this thread as was about to apply for one of these accounts - seems like a flipping nightmare, so I don't think I'll bother.

Nationwide's 2.25% web ISA offers a 'savings promise' whereby you'll earn interest as soon as the application is received. Cheshire's not worth the hassle for 0.05%, IMO.

5 days later, no reply to my email, this company are a disgrace. When I phone up, I get a recorded message saying they are aware of the situation.

Still waiting for paperwork 65 days after opening the account, might see if the ISA has actually transferred, if not, open one with someone else

In the interest of balance, may I add my recent experiences?

I submitted three ISA applications to Cheshire at the end of April 2013, on behalf of relatives. All three applications involved transfers-in of previous years contributions, as well as funding for 2013-14.

Two of the three applications were processed without a hitch and all the expected paperwork was received. For the third, we did not receive confirmation that the transfer-in had been completed. (However, the old ISA provider had notified us of the transfer-out.)

On the 6th June I wrote a letter to Cheshire informing them that no transfer confirmation had been received. On the 12th June I received a very apologetic reply with a statement attached, confirming no loss of interest.

Your experiences may be different, but I have so far been happy with the move to Cheshire.

(By the way, the Cheshire B/S is owned by the Nationwide B/S. All part of the same empire.)
