I emigrated to Manchester, either way I don't care, my house is a home not an investment, to which I now have 24 years and 1 month left to pay. :j

Ah yes, sorry, I forgot you emigrated.

To be honest, I did get it.
It was an opportunity to highlight that not only London is surpassing previous peaks, so thanks

    It wasn't.

Merthyr Tydvill has not surpassed previous peaks.

Peak was £86,600, it currently stands at £69,370.

It's the lack of sales which causes the wide fluctuations in Merthyr. High HPI doesn't simply mean they have passed previous peaks.

Of course it's an investment stop kidding yourself. You wouldn't have bought if it wasn't an investment.

Is it so hard to believe somebody might buy a house to simply just... you know... live in it.

You bought a house as an investment - that investment was to build a nest egg and live in a home

If you just wanted a home you would have rented forever

Well it was a case of buy one for a stranger (ie renting) or buy one for myself.

As mentioned this way I won't having anything to pay in 24 years and 1 month, if I rent I would be paying forever more.

I couldn't care less if my house doesn't increase in value, or decreases at that, neither would stop me living here and being happy. :)

How could renting make it my home?, its my home but I could be kicked out at 2 months notice... is that really home?

I've just tipped my toes back into the South Coast Property market and I'm staggered with what I see.

Properties appear, then, BANG - SOLD!

The prices being paid are now higher than in 2007!

I know the North is another entity - but, down here, in the leafy glades of Hampshire and the Coastal Paths of Dorset it is absolutely BOOMING!!

The North will catch up soon enough - the worst is well behind us now. I do chuckle at those on the House Price Crash site ... they know it's over, they know they have mis-judged the market.

It appears prices are still dropping, so the worse isn't over yet up north.

I would guess seaside towns have always been immune due to being more desirable and of course there isn't as many as there is inland.
