I've just done my dad's, it shows that he is not due for the changeover until 2015 when he will be 67!!!
Question: When he comes to make the claim does he (1) only describe his problems as they were on the day before his 65th birthday or (2) on the day he actually fills the form in?0

However, if he has a change in circumstances, he is obligated to report this in the mean time.
Yes I know that but to be honest there really is no point as he already receives HRM despite his mobility becoming worse.
Besides which, why rock the boat when the award cannot go any higher but stands the risk of it being reduced?
That answer confuses me. If PIP is for those that are under 65 and it is a completely new benefit, yet you are suggesting that any deterioration of health that takes place after his 65th birthday will be taken into consideration??
Take that a step further if a new and entirely different disability causes more needs and that that new condition comes about just after say his 67th birthday are you saying that PIP will look to give an award for it?0

I have only recently successfully claimed this for my son who turns 16 in July. According to the calculator it says he won't be approached until 2015 but his award letter says he has only been awarded until January 2014. So not so sure on the accuracy of the calculator?0

The calculator does not take account of any change of circumstances or planned reassessments.0

I don't see how only knowing your date of birth, the calculator can determine when you'll be affected it doesn't make any sense to me it's not as if it asks if you have an indefinite or life time award? I'm missing something?0

Everyone is going to changed over to pip regardless of an indefinite award so from 2015 is when most of us will start to be affected by the changes if we don't report a change or have an end award time before that. Also an indefinite award can be reassessed at anytime, it's just it won't be changed to pip till 2015.
 When will PIP be introduced
 New claims
April 2013 – Personal Independence Payment will be introduced for new claims in Merseyside, North West England, Cumbria, Cheshire and North East England. During this period new claimants in all other parts of the country will continue to claim Disability Living Allowance as now.
June 2013 – new claims for Personal Independence Payment will be taken from all parts of the country.
 Existing DLA claimants
Existing Disability Living Allowance claimants who are aged 16 to 64 on 8 April 2013 or reach age 16 after that date will be affected by the introduction of Personal Independence Payment, even if they have an indefinite or lifetime award of DLA.
We will write to all existing DLA claimants in February and March 2013 with more information about PIP in their usual annual letters that tell them what their new benefit rate will be.
 Example DLA uprating letter (34KB)
Personal Independence Payment is being introduced in stages over a number of years.
October 2013 – if an individual reports a change in how a health condition or disability affects them, they reach the end of an existing award of DLA (and haven’t already received a DLA renewal letter), or they are approaching the age of 16, then we will invite them to claim Personal Independence Payment.
From 2015 – we will start to contact everyone else receiving DLA (unless they report a change in how their health condition or disability affects them, or if their award is due to end). We will write to individuals in plenty of time and they do not need to contact DWP now.
There is no automatic transfer from Disability Living Allowance to Personal Independence Payment.

It's the same for PIP when it's introduced, but they must have some sort of process, like birth dates, initials etc..0
