Should I sell my wedding dress to pay debt?

I think you've probably made the right choice! I made my wedding dress and I think I had some idea of turning it into a christening robe or something later but never did - still have it in loft, but as I was then a size 12 and am now an 18 (well, it is 37 years old!) its only chance now is if the GD fancies it for dressing up! I did once, years ago, try it on to show my sons - but the teasing I had when I couldn't zip it up properly was very bad news for my ego!!!Resolution:

Aww I_A: I don't blame you. If you'd had any strong feelings about keeping the dress you wouldn't have even asked the question.
In my humble opinion, I think you have all the photos and you have the most important thing of the day (hubby!) so, sell it (good thinking with the reserve!) and help get rid of the debts.
The girls will find billions of other things to dress up in I am sure and also....by selling it, you may well help another DFW in the process.
All round, I think you are doing the right thing.
Good luck with the auction.

No.
Its a once in a lifetime memory; keep it.
You can have it re-made as a christening gown for your children; you can wear it on a special anniversary or your duaghter can wear it on her wedding day!0 -
Should have mentioned that our girls aren't being christened. I'm pagan and Ste is atheist! lolTotal 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I hope you get a good sum for it, I was touched by Richard's post but I am not that sentimental and I hate keeping stuff if I know I won't use it or wear it again. My first wedding dress went to the charity shop aboput the same time as the divorce and my second wedding "dress" is a pair of shorts and a t shirt, t shirt long gone, shorts now fit again so they will be going on holiday with me in a couple of weeks. You have the pictures and the memories and if you feel bad about selling it because your brother paid perhaps you can buy a memento either from the proceeds or when you have got your debts down a bit more.
Good luck with the auction x0 -
I would sell it, when you are debt free you can buy an even better dress.

I got married february, sold the dress on ebay in april. Don't regret it a bit.
The funny thing was I had bought it on an auction site for $185 inc delivery, I sold it for $180 inc delivery :rotfl:
Bet not many people can say their wedding dress cost $5 (2 quid!)
Anyway, hope your auction goes well for you.
Hey, if we all were watchers, does that still get it on the front page?Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
