Should I sell my wedding dress to pay debt?
Comments

Put a decent reserve on it, but if you can sell it for fair amount, do it. It's only a dress.0

My mum kept hers thinking having 2 daughters one of us might want to wear it. Neither of us did, for a start mum is a lot thinner than both of us
plus the dress is now very dated, so its doubtful that my daughter or neice will ever wear it either. So mums dress has never been out of the box since the day she put it away. As I mentioned on your other thread, the train of mine was made into a Christening robe and [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] when I lose some weight, I have considered turning what is left into a 'special occassions' dress for me.
If you can get a decent amount for it, yes sell but I wouldn't give it away.0 -
At the risk of getting berated
But I like a bit of that;)
Most birds cant fit back in them anyway after getting married so yeah flog it0 -
IA,
I'm going to sell mine-I love my dress but I have photos and memories-it's been in a bag in the loft for 8 years now, What good is that?
Sorry, I am very sentimental but only over things that could never be replaced (like children and their first painting etc.)
BunnyEmpty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
I voted keep it! I always seem to go against general opinion! Sell it then, but make sure you get Ste to wear it one more time if you know what I mean;)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Funny how the boys are turning out to be the sentimental ones isn't it? I'm surprised and (secretly) rather pleased!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Hi IA
Just a thought - have you something else you could keep, like a headress, veil, underwear or something like that?? Something to remind you of the day but maybe didn't cost as much as the dress.0 -
Hi IA
Im in the same position- I got married in December and wondered about selling mine. But for what I would get for it, I am keeping it.
From what I have read of your posts you are very determined and are getting through your debts very successfully, so a couple of hundred quid against them isn't worth the wrentch of selling it.
I would rather see my little girl having the joy of dressing up in it.0 -
Well decision made.. was hard but I've put it on ebay with a starting price of £50. Ste's sold lots of his prized possessions to pay off debt so now it's my turn..... *gulp*Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
