still - the TV was, at best, iffy! lots of programs not broadcast - thought I might catch the F1 when I was out 'n' about - or a movie, but most aren't broadcast.
I assume the DAB radio will still work, as will the other functions (Windows moby) so I can run me tomtom etc?0 -
I would think so tightus_wad0

Hi
I broke the news about the TV service going here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=454662&page=18&highlight=lobster,
Got a Lobster myself and quite happy with it, great digital radio if nothing else. The digital radio will still work and be unaffected by the changes will prob just have an empty screen for the TV functions after jan :-(0 -
I hope someone can help with the problem I have with my Lobster.
Quite regular I get "sms cannot be sent". This is a real pain, same sim worked never a problem with my old Motorola. This happens (I think) if I pick a name from the contacts list and choose send sms. If I reply to an incoming text it usually works fine. Also my texting usually stops working after I've used the TomTom. To get it all going again I swap the sim back into my motorola and send myself a text. Then back to the lobster and texting works (sometimes), like I said this is a real pain, almost at the stage of putting the lobster to the back of the drawer with my old phones.
HELP HELP HELP.
Edit, also meant to ask how do I get the internet and email ? Can I only get the Virgin bites C~~P or can I get the normal Internet explorer, google, bbc, emails etc etc, if so how ? I'm sure I could use this phone for much more than I am at present, any websites/forums/MSE (other than this thread) that detail all the things it can do and how to set them up ?
Cheers

sorry I can't help with your question about SMS. To get the internet you should just have to open IE and away you go. As for e-mail you can set up pop3 or IMAP e-mail accounts. You will pay gprs charges for e-mail and internet access.
Modaco is probably the best place for smartphone questions - the lobster is also known as the HTC Monet if you are looking for specific info there0 -
Kellm9, check the format of the numbers in your contacts. Are they stored as +447890123456, or 07890123456?
You might find that changing the number format solves your problem. Try it and see.0 -

Although we all know about this, has Virgin actually made any comments on the situation. I sent an email to them and they called back but seemed in the dark about it - wanting to know where I had heard about it!!! We agreed that walking about with a TV phone and no TV service seemed a little open to a jibe or two?0 -
HI all
I have just purchased a virgin lobster phone after a friend of mine showed me his. The reason was because he was able to use tomtom on the phone, and for some reason it had GPS built in. People on other forums have said you need an external GPS reciever. But for sure he does not use an external GPS receiver.
Unfortunately the phone I bought does not have GPS.
He showed me the satellites that his phone picks up by using GPStest 1.04
You can get gps test from here http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/GPS/GPS-Test-34335.shtml
I would be interested if anyone else has had this luck and their lobster has sat nav built in.0 -

I know that mine didnt come with built in GPS, bought reconditioned a few months back. No settings anywhere on the phone for it. I managed to get a copilot bluetooth working with microsoft pocket streets though. Only really useful to see where i am.0 -
