O2 Parking

  • We are attending an event at the 02 next month. I was going to pre-book parking, but it does seem very expensive, and then I came across this thread.

What is the risk of parking in Car Park 2, instead of the Event car park? We will be going for a meal in the 02 first, so technically we can claim we are entitled to. I'm just worried that (a) Is there a risk than it can be full up and we can't get in? and (b) I assume it won't close before the event ends - which I assume is around 11pm?

If anyone can advise on those issues, I'd be really grateful. I appreciate people have suggested parking a little further away and getting a tube in etc, but my wife is disabled so that isn't really practical as we need to be relatively near
  • If your wife is disabled you can pre book the blue badge parking for £14.00 in O2 car park 1.

What if the disabled wife doesn't have a blue badge?

Note: requiring a blue badge as proof of disability, for private car parks, is a breach of the Equality Act 2010. Any person with a protected characteristic per the Act is entitled to a reasonable adjustment. Use of a disabled parking spot would be a reasonable adjustment; requiring a blue badge as proof would not.

Thanks so much for your helpful replies. I'm really grateful. So as not to take the risk of Car Park 2 being full, I think I will pre-book the £14 rate in the Event Car Park - my wife does have a blue badge

However, I am still interested in the point raised in my initial question. I've looked up the prices for Car Park 2, and you can stay up to 6 hours for £9, which is surely sufficient for most events even if you spend time having a meal first. So why would anyone pay the much higher (non-disabled) rates in the Event Car Park? Is it because Car Park 2 gets full?

A word of warning - the disabled spaces, at the O2 car park, are still a fair old trot from the actual entrance...if we go again, I will just book cabs.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Yes, it is a long walk from any of the car parks to the arena, if walking is a problem.

I do think that the car parking charges are a rip-off though!
