Beware of parking charges at the O2.
We have just visited the O2 on the 25th Feb to see the Australian Pink Floyd, as we drove into the car park there is the sign displaying the charge for parking £28! Now by any stretch of imagination this is taking the ----' but at this late stage of the proceeding what can you do? It was dark and freezing cold, pay up. We found out later that you can pre-book the parking for £17.50 plus 3.50 service charge.

There are two types of customers.
1) The organised. In this case they will have researched parking options in advance, and found where is cheapest. The O2 parking online prebooking will be priced reasonably competitively to attract them.
2) The disorganised. They turn up in central London without having done their homework and hope to get a parking space. They end up paying a higher price as they have fewer alternatives.
You are in the second group and as such can hardly complain.0 -
I still dont think that £21 (pre booked) is a fair amount to charge for parking. The o2 is not in central london. Central London parking charges are £4 per hour on a meter so even if the concert lasted 6 hours (which is unlikely) you would only pay £240

Wembley isn't in the centre of London either but they still charge £22.
I would have thought it was obvious you would pay well over the odds for venue parking.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
You can park elsewhere, for example Canary Wharf for £10, but then have to buy a ticket from there instead.
The organised buyer has an Oyster card, the later person pays double for a cash ticket..0 -
Why would you try to park there anyway? Not only is it expensive, even if you book in advance, but public transport is very good to and from the area. Part of the problem is an attempt to keep cars away from the area as much as possible.0

The best car park for the O2, if your show doesn't go past midnight, is the NCP car park 2 (I think) for the Greenwich Tube. It's currently £11 all day. You do need to turn up early though. The man without a signature.0

Just to add to my post above. I think the charge for parking is £11 per day and £6 on Sundays. If you drive there, then ignore all signs for concert parking and follow the signs for the NCP Car Park 2 on Edmund Halley Way. It's easier to pay by coins so make sure you have plenty of £1 coins. The man without a signature.0

What wonderful advice you give!!
Whatever way you look at it £28 for parking is extortion, pre booking is £17.50 plus £3.50 service charge. It must be very satisfying for you to hand down such advice and to judge us mear mortals."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0 -

Where abouts in Central London is £4 an hour on a meter?
I guess the O2 car park only really gets used when there are events on so it's a combination of high charges to cover when it's not being used and a captive audience.0 -
£28 for parking at the O2,
£45 for tea and sarnies at the Ritz,
£2900 for a 1st class return from London to NY.
It's all down to supply and demand.
As long as people are willing to pay the advertised prices for goods and services, companies woon't lower their prices, and to be honest, why should they if they are providing a service and they have more than enough people willing to pay the prices that they are asking?0
