Currently T-Mobile £10.50/month - renewal soon!

At the moment I have a T-mobile 12 month contract sim card coming up for renewal 300 minutes/250Mb Internet/500 minutes T-Mobile to T-Mobile/Unlimited texts for £10.50 a month. I am also able to access Virgin mobile on the London underground which is nice although I suppose not essential (but I might miss it at first!).

I need a minimum of 300 minutes talk.

I use an iphone 3gs.

I haven't yet phoned up T-mobile retentions.

I note that Tesco has a £10 a month 500 minutes/5000 texts/500MB sim card.

From Uswitch I notice

Virgin has a £12 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, 1GB sim card which is tempting but still £1.50 more than I am currently paying.

I can get a Vodafone SIM 300 minutes/unlimited texts/250 Mb for £10.50 but 3 months half price with a promo code MSIM3HP

I notice a special deal with uswitch of T-mobile 300 minutes/unlimited texts/250 data for £10 a month http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/yourdeal/?_cid=71773954

Orange has a £10.50 deal 300 minutes/unlimited texts/500 mb

Can anyone suggest any other possible deals?

Ovivo PAYG give you 100 minutes for free. Extra 400 cost £10.
After 3x£10 monthly topups you start getting 150 free and can add extra 150 for £5.
So, from month 4 300m+150t+500Mb will cost you £5 p.m.

  • Thanks grumbler. I've always had a lot of texts so I haven't kept a track of my text usage but I've realized I text a lot so I'm not sure that 150 texts will be enough. But otherwise Ovivo sounds good ... Are you with them?

Yes, I am, although I am happy with just free 100+100+400.

BTW, after 6x£10 it's 200+200+600 free, so for £10 you can get 350+350+600.

What makes you think it is 'coming up for renewal'? The existing deal needs no renewing - so if it suits, stick with it.
  • Hi Buzby, Nice to hear from you. The twelve months are coming up. It seems to me that there are cheaper deals on the market and even 50p difference does make a difference. I only added the Virgin deal cos 1200 minutes 1 gb does sound good but I was veering towards the Tesco deal unless T-mobile can equal it. It seems a bit rich that there is a special deal for £10 on the internet for T-mobile when I, a loyal customer for several years, am paying £10.50, although admittedly I haven't asked T-mobile about it as I've only just seen the deal!

I'll have to work out my actual text usage and my talk usage would be more - it would all be a bit dicey for me, I think but it does sound like a good deal for anyone who can keep within the limits!
  • i was offered exactly the deal your after by T-mobile when i asked for a pac code for £8 per month...i turned it down & went for the Virgin mobile £12 / 1200 mins 1 gig of data unlimited texts deal..

I was offered this deal as well. Was offered it as soon as I phoned up saying I was after a SIM only deal. Unfortunately it's not enough data for me so turned it down.
  • there's a £80 cash back on Quidco on Vodafone £15:50 sim only deal giving 600 minutes 500 mb unlimited texts with the cash back just under £9 per month
  • Thanks Mije and Dal,

I assume you're talking about the £10 a month deal or are you saying you were offered the deal for £8 which would be good?!

I also notice Vectone does a 1000 mins/texts and 1 GB for £10 a month which looks pretty damn good, unless others know different ...
