Loved reading this thread :T . The cloak lovers are all so enthusiastic, I couldn't wait to start looking at links cos I was really hoping to see cloaks thru the same eyes but I've failed, to me, they still look like you are extras from a Harry Potter film or some made for tv drama from an historic novel- soz. :o:p

I made a full length black velvet hooded one many years ago - purchased the pattern from one of those shops you used to get selling material and stuff with books of patterns (are there still any of those around?). I'm no kind of seamstress at all, but it was incredibly simple
Yeah, John Lewis if you can afford them :rotfl:
Never been a cloak person myself, agree about the faff; but I can see some people look splendid in them if they've got the stature :)

I love them on others! I've got the stature to carry one off but I can't cope with the odd glances for other people! Think they mark you out as a bit different and not necessarily in a good way. I have a couple of poncho type long wraps that are beautiful in colour and fabric but I can't cope with the bit thrown over the shoulder falling into the freezers at Tesco ! faff ;-
