Parents who worry unnecessarily

  • A house I went into once had every safety device going to "protect" their young children. Three stair gates (two on the stairs) one across the kitchen. Locks on all the kitchen cupboards, covers on all the sockets, foam things to stop doors closing.
I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.

Makes you wonder how the kids coped when they stepped outside. Perhaps the parents bubble wrapped them

You can totally over protect children. They need to have some trust shown in them, so as they learn to appreciate that some things are dangerous and should be treated with care and respect.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • I do worry a lot about my DD but the way I see it is I need to let her go and make her own mistakes and learn from them. It is really hard sometimes though. All I can do is be here to help her pick up the pieces if she needs me to.

I had a very overbearing mother who I felt intruded into my life a lot. I always promised myself I would never do that with my own child. My plan has in a way backfired though as she now comes and talks to me about anything and everything. SOME things I hear I want to cover my ears and sing la la la to myself to blot it out  Too much info is not always a good thing :rotfl:
Never look down on anyone unless you are bending to help them up.....
