Another vote for Body Shop hemp, but annoyingly after having used it for a long time, I suddenly seem to have developed an allergy to it. Not sure if it's me that changed or the formula?

But otherwise Neutrogena hand cream. When my hands are at their worse, all cracke and dry and sore, that is the only thing that works.

A key reason the richer hand creams and oils have an effect is simply that they are acting as a barrier from the harsh chemicals our hands are subjected to on a daily basis. Try quitting hand washes, shampoos and shower gels based on sulphates and other anionic surfactants, alkaline soaps, wear powder free gloves when washing up or doing chores, even gloves when washing your hair while your hands heal (disposable gloves, hair elastics on wrists works).

Other than that try replenishing the skin's natural moisturising factors: urea, lactic acid, short chain saturated fatty acids, cholesterol and ceramides are all found in healthy skin. Sources of the lipids include medical grade lanolin, lecithin, unrefined shea butter and palm fruit oil.

  • Body shop hemp handcream.

Made my eczema go away like magic, only thing apart from the steroid creams I've found that works.
I use it every couple of days in the winter, as the cold seems to be a trigger for me. It works well as a preventative.

My OH says it smells like mud, but I quite like it - and wouldn't care what it smelled like anyway as its so good :)
  • Thanks all.

Tried the Neutrogena hand cream last night with a pair of cotton gloves & I have to say it's made a big difference.

My hands still are far from right, but I think with this cream, it won't be long before they are back to normal :)

I've got the same problem at the moment but unfortunately I can't use the Body Shop hemp stuff, the last time I tried it my hands turned bright red and itchy. I've tried Aveeno and Neutrogena and although they've helped a bit they don't seem to be working as well as they used to. I think a combination of the freezing weather and the awful hand soap at work are playing havoc with my hands!
