  • I swear by Aromatherapy Associates, we had their products when we were Mandarin Oriental in Vegas and have had them since, they do seem VERY expensive but actually work out cheaper than normal products because you only need to use a very small amount, I have bodywash which I use daily which has lasted 6 months already!

Their moisturisers are exactly the same... Sorry I sound like a salesman :D
  • Another vote for Aveeno, my daughter was prescribed it for her excema by our doctor (who said it was the only moisturiser she uses her self). I suffer with very dry hands in the winter like you to the point where my skin cracks (mainly on my knuckles but they also bleed). If I use Aveeno before bed they are loads better by the morning and after just a few days so soft they look like they don't belong to a 40 yr old!! LOL

Typical..hemp intensive hand butter is back up to £11

And neutrogena is still less then £4

Give it a try, not posh or trendy, just does what it says on the tube

  • I am another one who votes for Bodyshop Hemp handcream. I suffer from dermatitis especially in the Summer months. Hemp handcream is the only thing that really keeps it at bay. I buy it when it is on offer and never pay full price for it. I also think Neutrogena is very good.

I agree with jennieweb about trying to find the cause. My triggers are antibacterial hand wash or washing up liquid, Fairy washing up liquid and alcohol hand gels. I also seem to have a reaction to the dirt when I am gardening and have to wear gloves all the time. My daughters hands get red raw if she uses anti bacterial handwash.

I can't say I particularly like the smell of Hemp handcream though. It has a very herby scent.
  • The Hemp Handcream from BodyShop has been a godsend for me...for years, every winter my hands would get so dry they would literally crack and bleed...not a pretty sight. I'd tried everything from a prescribed steroid cream, to E45 (which irritated my skin and stung!). Even the Norweigan formula intensive handcream (wasn't bad, I have to say).

The bodyshop hemp cream is the first stuff that has actually *worked*. For the first time in years, my hands are not cracked, bleeding and painful and I am very, very happy! Couldn't recommend the stuff highly enough.
  • I very rarely suffer with dry skin on my hands as I always apply hand cream, especially before bed. This problem is quite a new one for me.

Anyway, bought some Neutrogena and will try it tonight. Failing that, I splash out on the Hemp one.
