Regarding maintenance, if this is his only child, the CSA (if involved) would require him to pay 15% of his net pay (CSA2). This amount would be reduced if he has his son at least 52 nights a year, or if he is living in a household where there are other dependent children, even if he is not the father.
If he isn't paying at least this amount, then the mother of the child may be right to involve the CSA. However, whatever amount he is paying, I would suggest that he either pays it via the bank, clearly marked as maintenance for child X, or gets the mother to sign receipts of any cash pay,ends made. This way, if there is ever any future accusation of him not paying, he will have proof.0 -
