I'm a bad person who presses in the squat rack...but I did ask the powerlifters and apparently they all do it as we only have 1 press rack, but 4 oly platforms!

Check out Staci on Nerd Fitness...she looks like we all want to, and did it by clean eating and powerlifting...she could deadlift nearly 2 of me!
On a personal level, since I started lifting heavy and low repped, I've lost 4kg. I don't really go on weight though, I go on how my body feels and looks.

Fair enough. The gym I use has 2 press racks a power rack and one oly platform.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I'm spoiled
(Well, I say 4 oly platforms - it's 2 double-ended ones really
)
I keep filling in those little feedback cards asking for another press bench and more stretching mats...we have 2 mats for the whole gym, cardio and weights areas!

I don't want to look like her - sorry, GF is not far off a slightly older version of her though.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

The gym I used to use took away all the benches and the rack, to make a rest area for the active living bods, then talked to me like I was an idiot when I pointed out most of the weights were useless without them. *sigh* I despair sometimes - you can't bench safely (or at all) without them, and can't squat safely without them. *sigh again*
Should have pointed out that most women want to look like Staci - not necessarily the chapsShe's inspirational though!

On a plus side my hack squat and millitary press came on in leaps and bounds untill I found a new gym.
He though we could use an old reebok step as a bench like they do as body pump.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I joined a gym mid-January and so far am a little disheartened with the results.
I've probably been attending for about four weeks (was out for the count with illness for 1 week), about four times a week. Each time I go, I tend to burn 200-225 calories on a mixture of bike, stepper and cross-trainer machines, taking about 30-35 minutes to do this. I'm a size 10-12, about 5'6" tall, weighing 65-66kg, so not enormous, but definitely could do with dropping a few pounds (my target weight is 62kg).
Definitely continue to workout even if you don't lose too much as a side benefit is that you will feel fitter.0
